The Kalabari language speaking people in Akuku-Toru, Asari-Toru and Degema Local Government Area of Rivers State, have been called upon to queue behind the Bible Society of Nigeria in the next Phase of the Kalabari Bible Translation.

They have also been urged to support and donate generously towards the production of the Kalabari Study Bible King James Version.

This call was made recently by the Chairman of the Bible Society of Nigeria, Rivers/Bayelsa Area, Elder Omoni Ayo-Tamuno, during the Founders Day Celebration at the African Church Our Saviour’s Cathedral, Buguma City in Asari-Toru Local Area.

Elder Ayo-Tamuno, disclosed that the Kalabari language Study Bible was being reviewed by the Kalabari Bible Translation/ Review   Committee headed by the Primate of the Lutheran Church of Nigeria, The Most Revd (Dr) Neme B. John Fyneface JP.

The chairman explained that a two in one Bible combining Kalabari and English Edition is also being reviewed to make the reading and understanding the Kalabari Bible easier.

He, therefore, appealed to the Clergy, traditional rulers and the people in the three Kalabari Local Government Areas to mobilised and cooperate with the Committee to bring this unique Kalabari Language Bible to a reality.

He lauded the leadership of the Kalabari Bible Translation/ Review Committee for being at the fore front in translation activities and being very supportive to the Bible Society of Nigeria.

Elder Ayo-Tamuno said that the Society which was established on February 8, 1966 would continue to partner with the Church to translate and make the Bible available in more Nigerian Languages.
