Group endorses Revd Nwoye to succeed Gov. Ugwuanyi – From Ijeoma Eke-Ojim/Enugu

A Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO), Advocacy for Job Creation (AJC), has endorsed Revd Ifeanyi Nwoye, former deputy governor of Enugu state, to succeed incumbent Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, whose tenure expires on May 29, 2023.

Addressing journalists in Enugu on Friday, the group’s lead partner Daniel Nnaji, said the endorsement of Revd. Nwoye, of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP),  as the next governor of Enugu state, followed his track record of job creation, saying that he has overtime created not less than 4,000 direct jobs and countless indirect jobs in the state.

 Nnaji further revealed that the Ecumenical College headed by Rev. Nwoye, recruits and trains between 300 and 400 people annually, as well as provides direct jobs to graduands, and “makes people functional members of the society.”

The group added that Revd. Nwoye was chosen as the next governor of the state, among over 10 other aspirants following his “fine blend of experience in private and public service.”

“The Revd. Ifeanyi Nwoye has a fine blend of experience in private and public service.  He rose through the ranks of Christ Ascension Church Worldwide, to become its number 2 person, administering over 3,000 branches of the church around the world, managing his private estate, served as Vice Chairman of Nkanu East Local Government Area, Chairman of Nkanu East LGA, and coordinating Chairman of all local governments in Enugu state.

“He also served as Commissioner, Ministry of Environment, Chairman, Enugu State Pilgrims Board, and Deputy Governor.

“Also, the faith-based organisation under his leadership, runs primary and secondary schools across Enugu state, and elsewhere around the world.

“In all of these, Revd Ifeanyi Nwoye maintained stability and sense of direction in the discharge of his responsibilities,” the group said.

According to group, Revd Nwoye possesses the executive capacity to deliver on the mandate, saying that “with his educational background in business administration garnered in the United States of America, a blend of his private and public sector experience, and vast international networks, PDP governorship aspirant, stands tall above other aspirants in the capacity to govern, create jobs, and attract substantial foreign investmens to Enugu State.”

Beyond that, the group said that Revd Nwoye, has the integrity to function as governor of Enugu state.

“All through his years in public service, he has never for one day been indicted by watchdog agencies for financial impropriety, or even any misconduct at all,” the group stated.

Speaking on his temperamental balance, the organisation said Revd Nwoye, has often shown his capacity to manage and balance competing interests, adding that “this is necessary to maintain stability in the state considering the nature of its politics, and to drive growth and development.”

Enugu State under the leadership of Gov. Ugwuanyi is reputed as one of the most peaceful states in the country, and the group says that Revd. Nwoye has the temparament to maintain the peace cultivated by the current administration in the state.

Advocacy for Job Creation, is an advocacy group that monitors the status of job creation by public  and private sectors executives.

The NGO also tracks unemployment, underemployment and wages among different demographics in the country.
