The State Working Committee (SWC) said it has received an invitation from Chief Ali Odefa, the National Vice Chairman (NVC) South-East of the party for a meeting in Abuja.Mr Chika Nwoba, state Publicity Secretary of PDP disclosed this in a statement released on Sunday in Abakaliki a copy was made available to the SUMMITNEWS.
Nwoba noted that the SWC received the public invitation, just as many other leaders and member of the party had received the invitation. He said that the members of the SWC appreciated the necessity and importance of the meeting especially as it was targeted at harmonising the differences between Interest groups over the three-man delegate election which has becomes subject of litigation.
The party leaders while appreciating the urgent need to hold such interface however rejected the Abuja venue so chosen by the South-East zonal leadership of the party.”While we appreciate the necessity to hold a meeting especially to harmonise different interests in the three-man delegate congress, we are concerned that the preferred venue for the meeting is not convenient for a majority of our critical stakeholders and party leaders. This is so as elections are scheduled to commence from Tuesday in Ebonyi; We are therefore advising that the meeting be held in Abakaliki as it is the best venue for such a meeting,” the statement read.
