Mr Francis Nwifuru, sacked Speaker of the Ebonyi state House of Assembly has said that he remained the only authentic gubernatorial candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ebonyi for the 2023 governorship election.
He declared that there was no parallel governorship primary election in Ebonyi in May 26, 2022 contrary to reports in some session of the media.
According to him, the only petition emanating from the conduct of the exercise was a petition submitted by Sen. Julius Ali Ucha which had been treated by the Appeal Panel in Abuja.
He boasted that come May 29, 2023 that he would be sworn-in as the next executive governor of Ebonyi state.
Nwifuru stated this when he hosted members of the Correspondents Chapel of the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ), at his residence on Wednesday in Abakaliki.
Nwifuru whose appeal suit is currently pending in Appeal Court following his sack as a lawmaker for defecting to the APC in 2020 with Gov. Dave Umahi was elected factional APC guber candidate by a faction loyal to Gov. Umahi.
He charged Igbo leaders to maintain a common and united front to be able project and promote the Igbo or South-East agenda at the national level.
