Dr. Okupe: Standing-in as LP VP
Former aide to ex-President Goodluck Jonathan, Dr. Doyin Okupe, has emerged as the running mate to Mr. Peter Obi, former governor of Anambra State, and presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP).
Dr. Okupe, who made the announcement this night when he appeared on Channels Television programme: Politics Today, however, said the final choice of a vice presidential candidate for LP would be known when the party concludes discussions with like-minded political parties on the issue of coalition and electoral co-operation.
Similarly, the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), has appointed Alhaji Kabiru Masari, as its vice presidential candidate for the 2023 general elections.
Alhaji Masari hails from Katsina State, the home state of President Muhammadu Buhari.
Announcing the appointment of Alhaji Masari, Alhaji Kabir Faskari, a chieftain of the APC, said he was chosen by APC Presidential candidate Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu, as his running mate after due diligence, adding that the vp candidate has had a long standing good relationship with Senator Tinubu.
Faskari who appeared on the same TV programme alongside Dr. Okupe, dismissed the recrimination against Muslim-Muslim ticket, saying that what the country need is the right combination of candidates who would take the country to a greater height.
