The British Prime Minister, Boris Johnson has resigned. But Mr. Johnson will serve as PM until a successor is elected in the autumn.
In a nation-wide broadcast monitored from Nigeria, Johnson said it was painful not to see through most of his ideas and projects, adding that “I am sad to be giving up the best job in the world.”
However, he thanked the British people “for the immense privilege you have given me.”
According to him, in politics, “no one is remotely indispensable.”
The process of electing a new prime minister will begin next week.
