Ebonyi State Govt Approves N1.8bn for Youth Empowerment – From Magnus Aluma/Abakaliki

Gov. Dave Nweze Umahi-Committed to Youth Empowerment

The Ebonyi State Government Southeast of Nigeria, is to embark on Empowerment Scheme targeted at not less than 3000 youths and women in the area. 

Briefing reporters at the end of the state’s weekly Executive Council meeting in Abakaliki, the State capital, commissioner for Information and state Orientation, Uchenna Orji, said the state government has approved the sum N1.8b for the program

The commissioner explained that each of the 3000 beneficiaries would receive the sum of N300,000, and directed them to the office of the Deputy Governor, for verification and documentation.

According to him, “EXCO received the final report on the empowerment of Ebonyi Youths and Women. In the proposal, each beneficiary is to receive the sum of N300,000. EXCO approved the final list of 3000 beneficiaries and further set up a committee to prepare a proposal for the launch of the empowerment programme.”

“EXCO also released the sum of N900,000,000.00 for the empowerment programme which is a by-product of #ENDSARS#.

“The list of the beneficiaries shall be forwarded to the office of the Commissioner for Information and State Orientation for publication in at least two National Dailies ahead of the disbursement in August, 2022,” he added.

Orji also revealed that the State Government released the sum of nine hundred million naira for the NG-Cares Programme for farmers, SMEs, market men and women, youths, chamber of commerce, and public works volunteers.
