INSECURITY: Buhari, uncaring, lazy President – Odinkalu

President Buhari – traveled to Liberia despite killing of men of Brigade of Guards by terrorists

Former Chairman, National Human Rights Commission (NHRC), Prof. Chidi Odinkalu, Wednesday described President Muhammadu Buhari, as an uncaring and lazy president.

Odinkalu, who was a guest on Channels Television’s Sunrise Daily, expressed worry over the rising insecurity across the country, saying that President Buhari has failed in his constitutional position as   commander-in-chief of the armed forces to secure lives and property in the country.

He dismissed the suggestion that governors of the 36 states of the federation are equally to blame over the expanding insecurity in the country, insisting that only President Buhari has control over the security agencies, and, therefore, should deploy them appropriately, and ensure that they achieve commendable results.

He also said that it was  disheartening to learn that President Buhari travelled to the West African country of Liberia to attend that country’s 175 independence anniversary  a day after terrorists attacked personnel of the Brigade of Guards in Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) killing about  two army officers, and injuring several others.

“ Buhari is uncaring, and a lazy president and commander-in-chief of  the armed forces.   We cannot exonerate him from the growing insecurity in the country.  The president goes off to another country despite the killing of officers of Brigade of Guards by terrorists,” he bemoaned.

He revealed that there is a deluge of security reports by the State Security Services (SSS), on how to secure the country lying fallow at the cabinet office, but regretted that  the concerned officials  whom he described as ‘illiterates’ have failed to read  and intepret those  reports.

He further said that it might be difficult to conduct elections in 2023 in some parts of the country, especially Kaduna, Zamfara, Katsina and Imo states owing to the security situations in those states.
