Ifeanyi Odii – Valid PDP Ebonyi governorship candidate
The supreme court on Wednesday, September 14, declared Ifeanyi Odii, as the valid governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ebonyi state for the 2023 general elections.
Lawal Garba, in a lead judgment of a five-member panel, held that Joseph Ogba, who currently represents Ebonyi central senatorial zone, lacked the legal right to have filed an appeal before the court.
Garba also said the Abuja court of appeal lacked the jurisdiction to have entertained the suit in the first instance, since Ogba was not a party in the entire proceedings conducted during the trial at the federal high court sitting in Abakaliki, the Ebonyi state capital.
