FrontFoot Media Initiative, a non-profit mass media organization which seeks to promote enduring change in Africa through robust and uncompromising journalism, has organised a two-day intensive training in audit reporting for journalists drawn from the states of Anambra and Enugu.

The training which took place at the exquisite Hilton Leisure Resort & Hotel, Awka, from 19 – 20 October, 2022, featured lectures on Audit Reporting Imperative for Nigerian Journalism, Principles and Purposes of (Public Interest) Journalism, Principles & Applications of Auditing & Public Sector Finance, and Interpreting Government Audit Reports.

Other topics handled by experts in Finance, Accountancy and Journalism were Reflection on Local Government Audits, Audit Reports, Crafting a Good Story, Deploying Solutions and Investigative Journalism, Where does a Reporter Find Audit Reports? and Principles of Government Budgets.

The workshop focused on the auditing process based on the implementation of budgets. The participants, and indeed the media, were enjoined to put the spotlight on how budgets are made, and public monies spent.
