2023: Tinubu promises to boost South-East economy if elected president – From Magnus Aluma/Abakaliki

Senator Tinubu: We’ll improve on electricity supply

The All Progressives Congress (APC)  presidential candidate, Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has promised that his administration will turn around the economic fortunes of the South-East, by making the zone become what he described as the Taiwan of Africa if he is elected president of the country come 2023 presidential election.

  The APC presidential flag bearer who made this promise on Thursday in Abakaliki, the Ebonyi state capital, during the party’s  mega rally to officially flag-off its presidential and governorship campaigns in the state for the 2023 general elections, also  promised that his administration will improve on power supply in the country.


He condemned the estimated electricity billing system, saying  that under his regime, the problem would  be tackled headlong.

He  further promised to effect positive changes in the health, transport and education sectors.

 “We will give priority especially to education for us to improve manpower development in the country,” he said

He charged the people of the South-East to secure their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) which he said is  their power to vote.

 “The PVC is your voting strength, and if you vote for APC, from the top to the lowest, your interests will be protected.

A thunderous ovation from the mammoth crowd gathered at Pa Ngele Township stadium, venue of the event, ushered  the state Governor David Nweze Umahi, to the stage for his opening remarks.

 Governor Umahi  thanked the APC presidential candidate for coming to the state to be part of  the auspicious event.

“Ebonyi people are indeed happy to receive Tinubu in the state, and we declare our total support for him,” he added.

Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo State, described Tinubu as the most credible and capable presidential candidate, whom he said would build on his already made achievements, to take Nigeria to the next level.

Governor Uzodimma said that the next task before APC supporters is to translate their overwhelming support for the party to electoral votes

Dignitaries at the event included the APC presidential running mate and former Governor of Borno State, Senator kashim Shetima, the Director-General of the APC presidential campaign organisation and Governor of Plateau State, Solomon Lalong, and the National Deputy Chairman of the party, South, Chief Emma Eneukwu.

Others were a chieftain of the party from Anambra state, Senator Andy Uba,  the chairman of the Progressive Governors’ Coordinator in Borno and Governor of Borno State, Babagana Umaru-Zulum, Governor Atiku Bagudu of Kebbi State, a former Speaker of Nigeria’s House of Representatives, Dimeji Bankole and Nigeria’s former Ambassador to Greece Chief Franklin Nchita Ogbuewu among others.

APC National Chairman and former Governor of Nassarawa State, Senator Abdullahi Adamu, who was represented by the party’s Deputy Chairman, South, Emma Eneukwu, boasted that APC has concluded its assignment by nominating  Senator Tinubu as its presidential candidate.
