on has nothing to do with Ekoli-Edda people – APC House of Reps candidate
The deceased, Mrs Urenwa Chima, was the wife of the Commander of Ebubeagu Security Outfit in Afikpo South LGA of the State.
The Reps candidate who was a former state lawmaker in the Ebonyi State House of Assembly who condemned the violent attacks, destruction of property and killings in area by hoodlums also said that it was wicked to link the Ekoli people with the murder of the pregnant woman.
He described the ugly incident as extremely wicked and barbaric, explained that, “the arson and killing of a pregnant woman in Amoso Edda have nothing to do with the Ekoli-Edda people.”
He added: “The people of Ekoli-Edda community reacted to the Dec 26 killing of a youth leader, Mr Eseni Egwu in Ekoli Edda.
“The Amoso Edda atrocities also have nothing to do with my supporters and loyalists who are currently being harassed all over the place by Ebubeagu Operatives.
“The killing of a pregnant woman and wife of the Commander of Ebubeagu Security Operatives in Afikpo South is extremely wicked and condemnable.
“This barbaric act cannot be excused under any guise and I shall invest my time, material and other resources to get to the root of the matter and cause the law enforcement agencies to bring the perpetrators to book.
“I make bold to assert that the arson and killing of a pregnant woman in Amoso Edda have nothing to do with the Ekoli-Edda people, who regrettably violently reacted to the killing of a youth leader, Mr Eseni Egwu in Ekoli Edda.”
China who is the immediate past Chairman of the Council, however, expressed confidence in the capacity and ability of the Nigerian Police and other sister security agencies to get to the roots of the crimes.
He called on the general public not to be deceived by attempts by desperately wicked individuals to divert attention from an objective, thorough and diligent investigation to unravel the motive behind the heinous crime.
“The only thing correct in the stories being dished out to the public by Mr Kalu Chima-Ekuma also known as ‘Oyeoku’ (Setter of Fire), who is the Commander of Ebubeagu in Afikpo are the facts that buildings were burnt and someone killed.
“The rest of the narratives which desperately try to link the crimes with those who participated in what happened in Ekoli-Edda and with the supporters of Mr Eni-Uduma Chima is but a fabricated hog-wash which cannot pass even the most superficial scrutiny.
“I call for genuine peace in Ekoli-Edda and the reconciliation of the Ekoli-Edda people; when brothers fight to the death, strangers inherit their possessions, I shall continue to work for the peace, security and welfare of Ekoli-Edda,” Chima said.
Our correspondent reports that the late Mrs Urenwa Chima was murdered in a cold blood by two masked suspected assailants who stormed their home in Amoso Edda on Jan.1 and thereafter set the building ablaze.
