The Achina Development Association (ADA), United States of America (USA) chapter, has donated a fully equipped life support ambulance to the Amaiyi Comprehensive Health Centre, Achina, in Aguata Local Government Area of Anambra state.
A statement signed by the association’s Public Relations Officer (PRO) Franca Onwumelu, and made available to SummitNews, states that the donation is in line with the ”Akurueunọ” (wealth must get home) philosophy of the Igbo man and woman residing outside his or her home town.
According to him ADA-USA, has rendered several charitable assistance to individuals and groups in the area over the years.
The statement reads in part: “ADA- USA on December 31, 2022, provided medical assistance that was identified as an urgent need at the Amaịyị Comprehensive Health Centre.
“The Public Relations Officer, Franca Onwumelu, on behalf of ADA-USA, handed over the ambulance to the paramount ruler of Achina, HRH Igwe G.N Obiora at the premises of Comprehensive Health Center Amaiyi, Achina Town.
“Achịna Development Association, United States of America (ADA/USA) is a non-profit organization, whose primary goal is to promote unity, cultural understanding and progress among Ndi-Achina and the Achina town at large.
“Besides the association’s activities in the USA, the projects executed in Achina include erosion mitigation at Ugwu Ńgángà road axis of Achina, environmental impact studies at different erosion sites at Achina, road construction project in Ebele Achina and Schematic engineering design of flooding mitigation in Nkwere Mmịrị in Achina town”
Receiving the life-support ambulance HRH Igwe G.N Obiora, thanked ADA/USA for its ‘thinkhome vision’, and charged the association to do more, stressing that in several communities in Ịgboland, diaspora associations are the bedrock of development.
Other important personalities present as the occasion were Eze Idegwu 111 of Achina, Nze Henry Ezeunara President-General Achina Town Union, Dr. Ikenna Erondu, the resident Doctor, Rev. Fr. Walter Okafor, Manager St.Peter’s College Achina, Barrister Mrs. Chinwe Ezenwa-Mba, President League of Achina Women Professionals, Dr. Mrs. Adaku Aniebue, immediate past President League of Achina Women Professional,
Others were Lady Josephine Ezenachi, Dr. Mrs. Beatrix Ezenwa, Hon. Barrister Ernest Ezenwa the PDP candidate for Aguata 1 constituency in the Anambra state House come 2023 election who graciously assisted with local logistics for the ambulance, Dennis Ezenwaka former President ADA-USA, John Dike, President Otu Ndi Igbo Quebec/Canada and SummitNews Media were all in attendance.
Onwumelu explained that membership of ADA/USA is open to Achina indigenes by birth or marriage and resident in the United States of America.
The association’s e current executive officers are Engr. Cletus Ezenwa President, Engr. Charles Onwumelu Vice President, Hon. Francis Ezeuka Secretary, Dr. Joe Onyilagha Treasurer, Lolo Liz Osuala, Financial Treasure and Hon. Jude Ndu Provost.
