Mr. Nwokoye, addressing the crowd
The Enugu State chapter of Obedient Movement on Wednesday March 15, endorsed Dr. Peter Mbah, of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as the next governor of Enugu State.
The endorsement which took place at the movement’s temporary office on 175 Ziks Avenue, Enugu, witnessed a large turn out of youths, elderly men and women who danced on the streets in support of Dr. Mbah’s candidature.
Speaking with SummitNews, Prof. Mike Okwudili, Campus Mobilizer, Obedient Movement South-East, said the PDP governorship candidate has demonstrated character, capacity, competence, and integrity in the management of men and resources.
He said Enugu state needed such a man with proven track record to move the state to greater heights, socially, economically and politically.
“The Obedient Movement is not interested in political party, but in someone who has capacity and competence to enthrone good governance, and, therefore, we have found these qualities in Peter Mbah, and that explains why we are endorsing him today to succeed Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi come May 29, 2023,” he said.
SummitNews recalls that the presidential candidate of Labour Party(LP), Mr. Peter Obi, had earler asked members of the movement to vote for candidates who are capable of delivering the proverbial democracy dividends in the upcoming governorship and house of assembly elections despite their political party membership.
The Obedient Movement made up of mainly youths with membership across the six geo-political zones was reportedly instrumental to the Labour Party’s outstanding performance in the just concluded presidential election.
Speaking in the same vein, Mazi Okechukwu Nwokoye, urged the electorate to come out enmasse on Saturday, March 18, to vote for the governorship candidate of the PDP.
He said the Obidient family in Enugu state zeroed in on Dr. Mbah after a critical assessment of the antecedents of all the governorship candidates in Enugu state, saying that the Mbah has all it takes to provide good governance in the state.
“I believe he is going to deliver quality leadership,” said Mr. Nwokoye.
Hon. Sanusi Idris, chairman, Keke Riders (Hausa stock) in Enugu state, said all his members have resolved to vote for the PDP governorship candidate, saying that he has the requisite capacity and competence to be the next governor of the state.
“The Obidient Family is a movement and not a political party. It is rooted in good governance, and therefore whereever we see someone who will provide that good governance, we go for that person, and Mr. Peter Mbah is that candidate,” he said.
The rescheduled governorship and house of assembly elections will hold on Saturday, March 18, 2023. It was earlier scheduled to hold on March 11, but was put forward by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to enable it reconfigure its BIVAS.
