Saturday, April 15, 2023, was a day of harvest of praises to God over the ground breaking ceremony of extension of the medical ward building at the Amaiyi Comprehensive Health Center Achina, Anambra state, proposed by the Achina Development Association, United States of America (ADA/USA) branch.
Speaking at the event, the paramount ruler of Achina, His Royal Highness, Igwe G.N Obiora, Ezeidegwu 111, represented by Nze Ezeuñara Henry, President General, Achina Town Union, expressed gladness over the uncommon gesture of worthy Achina indigenes resident in the USA under the aegis of Achina Development Association (ADA/USA).
He said: “It is a thing of joy that Ndi-Achina in USA are remembering that their relations have needs here at home. Recall that this hospital complex used to be a reptile colony, but the League of Achina Women Professionals (LAW-P) came and make the place functional. With the state of this hospital presently, it is adjudged that it could become one of the best hospitals in Anambra state all through the assistance of ADA USA who recently donated life support equipped Ambulan ce vehicle to the hospital.
“Here again, they are for the ground breaking of expansion patient’s ward at the hospital for our people to have their health needs satisfied. We are thanking their leader, Engr. Cletus Ezenwa, the entire ADA USA membership and donors that made the project funding possible.”
While commending ADA USA, Ezeidegwu 111 called on other well-meaning individuals and groups to emulate the good gestures of ADA USA and LAW-P to enhance the wellbeing of Achina and Ndi-Achina.
”I use the medium to call on our people both home and diaspora, groups or individuals to come to the aid of our community, because in most communities around us, its individuals or groups, are engaged in road construction and other community’s projects singlehandedly, therefore I call on other people and groups to emulate what ADA USA and LAW-P are doing for the progress and wellbeing of Ndị-Achina”.
Speaking at the event, Engr. Cletus Ezenwa, Ogbuefi Ezeobioha, President Achina Development Association ADA/USA, represented by Chief Dennis Chibuzo Ezenwaka, said the medical ward expansion has two phases which they have planned to put in use the part 1 of the project before the end of 2023.
”This project was conceived years ago. The need for this was conveyed to ADA USA by the resident Doctor Ikenna Erondu of the hospital and members of League of Achina Women Professionals (Law-P).
Chinwe Ezenwa-Mbah Esq, President Achina League of Women Professionals (LAW-P), who was visibly elated by the gesture ADA/USA is making in contributing to the welfare and the wellbeing of Achina citizens, she opined thus; ”years back, LAW-P got into the Amaiyi Comprehensive Health Center when it was in dilapidated state and in disuse, we got into revamping it. We are very happy today that ADA/USA is undertaking in adding a building to the hospital progress.
“They are already at work, because last year they gave us life support ambulance vehicle which is now functional and today they are adding another medical ward here at the hospital complex. We are told it will be completed in a few months . Most times we come here the medical wards available is not adequate for patient’s use. We say a big thank you to ADA/USA”.
Engr. Chidi Ezeoke, Managing Director Chidex Construction Works, the construction firm handling the project maintained that with the availability of necessary materials his company will conclude the building within the scheduled time.
‘’I am assuring our client, ADA/USA and Ndi-Achina, with the availability of the needed material, the construction of the medical ward will be completed in a few months, already we are mobilizing to the site for the commencement of the project.”
Performing the ground breaking during the sanctification, Rev. Fr. Johnbosco Amaogu, Vicar St. Charles Catholic Church, Achina prayed to God to prosper the individuals and groups, give them good health to continue with the community services they are doing for mankind. He also prayed for the sustainability and safety of the project to its conclusion.
Dignitaries that graced the event included Earnest Ezenwa Esq, Hon. Patrick Ezenwata, Mrs. Ezenachi( LAW-P ) and several others.
