Gov. Bago: Appointments based on competence, track record
Niger State Governor, Rt. Hon. Mohammed Umaru Bago, has sworn-in the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Head of Service, Chief of Staff, Deputy Chief of Staff and the Deputy Chief of Staff to the office of the Deputy Governor describing them as his choices.
A statement signed by Bologi Ibrahim, Chief Press Secretary (CPS) to the governor, and made available to SummitNews, stated that Gov. Bago presided over the ceremony, while the Chief Judge of the State, Justice Halima Ibrahim Abdulmalik, represented by Justice Hafsat Bawa Wuse, administered the Oath of Office and Oath of Allegiance on the government officials at the Government House, Minna, the state capital.
According to the statement, Gov. Umaru Bago, explained that the appointees who are his first set, were carefully selected based on competence and track records.
“I want to assure you all that they are my choices. I have reviewed them carefully and I have seen that they have the capacity, integrity and ability to work for Niger State,” the governor said.
He said in a bid to build the new Niger State of their dream, there is the need to appoint people with wisdom, courage and strength.
While congratulating the appointees, the governor said working with him is a herculean task but expressed confidence that they will not disappoint him.
“I don’t envy you, working with Bago is difficult, I know am workaholic and I trust you will not be found wanting”, he said.
Governor Umaru Bago disclosed that his next five appointees will be females in line with his campaign promises.
The governor also commiserated with all the communities affected by banditry attacks assuring them that it would soon be a thing of the past.

He appreciated party supporters for their patience and perseverance and called for continued support.
Speaking on behalf of others, the SSG, Alhaji Abubakar Usman Gawu, pledged their unalloyed loyalty and commitment to supporting the present administration to ensure it achieve the desired objectives.
He appreciated the Governor for finding them worthy of the appointments.
Those sworn-in are Alhaji Abubakar Usman, as the SSG, Engr. Abubakar Yahaya Salisu, Head of Service, and Chief of Staff to the Governor, Hon. Usman Abdullahi Gbatamangi.
Others are the Deputy Chief of Staff to the Governor, Alh. Sadiq Yusuf, and the Deputy Chief of Staff to the Deputy Governor, Alhaji Bello Ibrahim Gwada.
