Indigenes of Achina community in Aguata Local Government Area of Anambra State resident in the United States of America (USA), have commenced the building of a private patients’ medical ward at the Comprehensive Hospital, Amaiyi, in Achina Town.
The group which operates under the auspices of Achina Development Association, United States of Amercia branch (ADA-USA), said at the weekend that the project was informed by the “Aku rue Uno” (Take Your Wealth Home) philosophy enunciated by the Anambra State Governor Professor Chukwuma Soludo.
In an interview with SummitNews, the President- General, Achina Town Union, Nze Henry Ezeuñara, praised the leadership of ADA-USA for embarking on projects capable of uplifting the living standards of the people.
He said: “I must tell you that ADA-USA, led by Ogbuefi Ezeobioha Engr. Cletus Ezenwa is a development conscious organization. They have brought a lot of improvement to Ndi-Achina individually and collectively. The administration of ATU is very proud of ADA-USA. They are partners in the progress of Achina.”
It would be recalled that ADA-USA had previously embarked on several socio-economic projects in the town which are aimed at bringing succor to the people of Achina.

Nze Ezeuñara, cautioned other sister organizations and individuals from Achina to borrow a leaf from ADA-USA, the League of Achina Women Professionals (Law-P) and the Lift-A-Woman Initiatives, who according to him are doing marvelously well towards the progress and development of Achina and Ndị-Achina.
“Yes, permit me to use this medium to call on other well-meaning sister associations, individuals, other groups both home and in the diaspora to emulate the good hearts of the ADA USA, the League of Achina Women Professionals (Law-P) and the Lift-A-Woman Initiative who are the foremost organizations that has involved in touching the lives of Ndị-Achina through execution of developmental projects etc,” he said

Nze Ezeuñara further harped on the collective growth and development of Achina community, and admonished Ndị-Achina to emulate what other communities are doing that promote development and further curb criminality.
.Meanwhile, in the current state of insecurity in Anambra state the President General of Achina Town Union prevailed on Ndi-Achina the need for a regular visit to their homeland, irrespective of unnecessary hype on level of insecurity within Achina and its environs.
He charged Ndị-Achina not to abandon their fatherland for hoodlums to visit home when they are compelled to return during burial ceremonies, stressing that Achina is not a burial site people visit for burial purposes.
“Ndị-Achina should be thinking of our community always in all ramifications not to remember Achina when they have burial that affects us deeply. Achina is not a burial site one visits for burial purposes only. We should know that the issue of security is a collective responsibility of everybody for it to be tackled. The criminals are living with us. We know our sons, how they behave, we should try to fish them out. We should not be afraid to point out the persons we are suspecting to be part of the criminality in our town. There is a way to do that without exposing yourself”.
“For developmental projects, we need to borrow a leaf from other communities around us, where individuals take up projects of construction of community’s internal roads and various projects that uplift the well being of the people and their community. They should know that East west, north south, home is the best, which is in tandem with Anambra state government of Aku Rué Ụlọ phenomenon,” he reiterated.
The Achina President General further commended the efforts of some quarters in the community that has set a standard on security and road maintenance in their various quarters.
“However, we also appreciate the efforts of some quarters (Ogbe) in Achina who on their own are contributing towards the developmental strides of Achina; like Ịduu quarter that is working through SamCaro link road, from Ịduu road to Akawọdịdaa-Oka quarters, Obịnịka Achina. The Ngodo quarter that has set a standard in the securing of their quarter in Achina. The Achina Town Union administration is very proud of them.
We have a whole lot of people and organisations who, if they key in and think like these people and organisations I mentioned above, tomorrow will be the best for Ndị-Achina”. Nze Ezeuñara concluded.
Dr. Ikenna Erondu, the Medical Director, Comprehensive Hospital, Amaiyi Achina, who also spoke with SummitNews, expressed gratitude to ADA-USA for matching their words with actions.
“Our heart is filled with joy, our Papas and Mamas of Achina Development Association, United States of America (ADA USA), the promise they made to us some few months back is nearing completion. As we speak today the private patients ward is almost completed; there is roof over the structure, the workers are here working continuously. So far, we counted six private wards completed. The finishing touches are in progress. We are grateful and we thank God Almighty who has been using them as an instrument to make this health facility a huge success,” said Dr. Erondu.
Hon. Patrick Ezenwa, who oversees the purchasing of materials used for the project said the work had gone according to schedule, adding that funding is not lacking in anyway.
According to him, “the project is nearing completion; the electrician, plumber and others are preparing their quotations for me to present them to our principal, ADA USA. So far funding has not been a hindrance to the completion of the project. All things being equal, the project will be completed by August 2023.”
The Managing Director, Chidex Construction Works, Nigeria Limited, Engr. Chidi Ezeoke the contracting firm handling the project, collaborated with Patrick Ezenwata’s assertion that funding is not a hindrance to completion of the project. He promised to deliver the job before the end of Month of August 2023.
It would be recalled that the ground-breaking ceremony of the extension of the private patients’ medical ward building was performed on Saturday, April 15, 2023, and during the ceremony, Chief Dennis Chibuzo Ezenwaka, promised that work on the project would be completed within a short period of time.
