President Tinubu Launches 30-Day National Youth Conference to Empower Young Nigerians and Address Key Challenges.

President Bola Tinubu has announced a 30-day conference for youth across the country to discuss and tackle the challenges they face. He made this announcement on Tuesday during his broadcast for Nigeria’s 64th Independence Day Anniversary.

The President indicated that the details of the conference and the selection process for delegates would be established shortly.

“We are mindful of the next generation as we strive to overcome current challenges, hoping to harness their creative energy for a better future,” he stated during his second Independence Day address since taking office on May 29, 2023. “Our focus is on the future we intend to leave for our children, recognizing that they must be involved in shaping it.”

He expressed his pleasure in announcing the National Youth Conference, aimed at addressing the various challenges and opportunities facing the youth, who make up over 60 percent of the population.

The conference is intended to foster meaningful dialogue and empower young Nigerians to engage in nation-building. Ensuring their voices are included in the creation of policies that affect their lives will contribute to a brighter future.

The 30-day conference will bring together young people from across the nation to collaboratively find solutions to issues such as education, employment, innovation, security, and social justice.

“The structure of this conference and the selection of delegates will be developed in close consultation with the youth through their representatives. As leaders, it is our responsibility to ensure that their aspirations guide the discussions at this conference.

The government commits to carefully considering and implementing the recommendations and outcomes of this forum as we strive to create a more inclusive, prosperous, and united Nigeria.”

Tinubu also mentioned that his administration aims to reform Nigeria’s political economy and defense system to ensure the country’s survival. He praised the resilience of the Nigerian people, highlighting that they have endured crises that have led to the disintegration of other nations.

The President noted that his administration is determined to combat banditry and terrorism, allowing displaced farmers to return to their lands and increase production to help lower rising food prices.
