Chioma Obi: “I will carry out my duties with integrity and dedication.”
Mrs. Chioma Obi, a prominent travel consultant based in Enugu, has been elected Secretary of the Eastern Zone of the National Association of Nigerian Travel Agencies (NANTA), a development that has generated excitement among travel professionals across the region.
Mrs Obi, who is the Managing Director of Jands Travel Network and Director of Jands Travel Business School in Enugu, emerged after a closely watched election that drew wide interest from members of the association.
The Eastern Zone of NANTA covers 11 states — Rivers, Enugu, Ebonyi, Bayelsa, Cross River, Akwa Ibom, Anambra, Delta, Edo, Imo and Abia — and is regarded as one of the most active and influential blocs within Nigeria’s travel industry.
She was sworn in before members and leaders of the association, where she pledged to uphold the constitution of the body and carry out her duties with integrity and dedication.
Speaking shortly after taking the oath of office, Mrs Obi thanked members for the confidence reposed in her, describing her election as both humbling and motivating.
“This is a responsibility I do not take lightly,” she said. “I am committed to strengthening communication within the zone, supporting initiatives that will uplift our members, and working with the leadership team to move the association forward.”
She noted that her new role represents an opportunity to serve more broadly and contribute to improving coordination and professionalism within the Eastern Zone.
Industry stakeholders say her emergence is not surprising, given her track record in the travel business and her work in training and mentoring young professionals through Jands Travel Business School. Under her leadership, the school has equipped many aspiring and practising travel agents with practical skills and industry knowledge.
Colleagues have described her election as well deserved and timely, expressing confidence that she will bring energy, structure and innovation to the office.
With her assumption of duty, members of the Eastern Zone say they look forward to stronger engagement, improved administration and steady growth in the months ahead.
