THE National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) Rivers State chapter, under the leadership of Comrade Gift Jumbo has pledged their allegiance to the Gov. Siminialaye Fubara.
In the address read by the Chairperson, Comrade Gift Jumbo at the press conference they organized at the Ernest Ikoli Press Center Moscow Road Port Harcourt, she said “We remain resolute in our support to our beloved governor, His Excellency Sir. Siminialaye Fubara GSSRS and committed to the promotion of the collective interest and overall welfare of Rivers Youths.
Comrade Gift Jumbo call on the Rivers state Governor Amaopusenibo, Sir. Joseph Siminialaye Fubara to recognize their group as the authentic and legitimate national youth council in Rivers state and pleaded to the government to disassociate with Ambrose Okpor’s led purported national youth council in Rivers state and recognize them as the authentic National Youth Council in Rivers state.
The state said; “we challenged the legitimacy of Okpor’s leadership and question the process that led to his emergence — Who is the NYCN state chairman that handed over to him and what is the basis of his claim to leadership? Was the ministry of Youth Development involved in the purported election? Did the ministry approved the process that produced Okpor and his illegal team?” They queried.
Comrade Gift Jumbo asserted further that her leadership has been instrumental to the leadership of Gov. Fubara’s administration and enhanced peace in the state.
“Under my watch River’s Youths have maintained peace and have supported the government of Sir. Siminialaye Fubara, from governance period down to the emergency rule and till date” Comrade Jombo reiterated.
She vowed to keep challenging those according to her are opportunists; “we won’t fold our hand while opportunists, backed by power hungry individuals, those who want to reap where the did not sow, sponsored to destabilize the unity and relative peace of the youth body”.
“Today we say never again, we will stand to defend the power entrusted to us by the Rivers Youths. And we resist every attempt to initiate any factional groups and their sponsors. We send this warning to Ambrose and every other splinter group to stay off the Secretariat of NYCN Rivers chapter. As we will defend our mandate with everything” Comrade Gift Jumbo stressed.
