“Through loving a person, we awaken their awareness of their own innate goodness. It is as though they cannot know how worthy they are until they look into the mirror of our love and see themselves.”
He said that celebrating Elechi’s 83rd birthday by the governor was a crucial milestone which deserved commendation.
“On the April 2, you celebrated the former governor of Ebonyi, His Excellency Chief Martin Nwanchor Elechi, with two pronged ceremonies. Firstly, a thanksgiving service held at St Theresa’s Catholic Cathedral, Abakaliki.
“And secondly, a luncheon held at the Ecumenical Centre, Abakaliki.
“The two ceremonies were heavily attended by the créme de la créme in Ebonyi and the surrounding states.
“Many people also came from far to grace the ceremonies; it was indeed a roll call of dignitaries who took turns to pour encomium on Your Excellency for the noble gesture, and also in praise of the celebrant for his contributions in the struggle for the creation of Ebonyi.
“And the apparent legacies he left during his service to Ebonyi as the second civilian governor between 2007 and 2015.
“It was indeed a memorable and exemplary occasion and was applauded by all and sundry who were present.
“Those who did not have the opportunity to grace the ceremonies also applauded the initiative and its implementation.
” In summary, I am proud to say that majority of our people are happy with the events.
“The celebrant also made a very remarkable and heartful statement in expression of his gratitude to Your Excellency when he said: “Chief Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru has treated me better than I can ever think of treating myself.”
“We all know that Chief Martin Nwanchor Elechi does not play to the gallery. He is always too frank and honest. He was actually happy when he said that he was happy.
“It is on the above backdrop that I hereby express my appreciation to Your Excellency for making our father; leader, mentor, icon, and boss happy.
” You have made him forget a lot of pains and disappointments experienced in the past. I have always written to condemn such unwarranted and provocative treatments in the past.
“I am happy with the new environment of peace with all leaders in the state and it is only right that I also commend this line of action.
“It is a welcome development and we pray that God will bless you more and more for being a harbinger of peace and unity in Ebonyi.” ENDS/
