Hon Sam I. Osuji, member representing Isiala Mbano State Constituency receives the award on behalf of the Speaker.
The Speaker of Imo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon Chike Olemgbe, has commended the Executive of Nzukọ Obodoukwu clan, Port Harcourt, led by Comrade (Amb) Calistus Nnadika for their foresight, sacrifice and demonstration of examplary leadership prowess of think home attitude by attracting developmental projects that alleviates the hardship of the citizens in Obodoukwu community.
The Speaker, who was represented by Hon. Sam I. Osuji; member representing Isiala Mbano State constituency in the Imo State House of Assembly made the assertion while receiving award of investiture of Distinguished Service Award by Nzuko Obodoukwu clan, Ideato North local government area at the Imo State House of Assembly complex Owerri.
He said “Ambassador Nnadika, what you and your executive have done is a huge sacrifice, and I make bold to say I will replicate this in my community and in my LGA. You people have made a huge sacrifice for your community, this is what leadership is all about.”
Receiving the award on behalf of the Speaker; Hon. Sam I. Osuji reiterated the value Rt. Hon. Chike Olemgbe attached to the award, which according to him is evidenced through the caliber of people he delegated to receive the award on his behalf. He thanked Nzuko Obodoukwu clan for the award and recognition on behalf of the Speaker.
“We are here on a representative capacity; Mr. Speaker has mandates us to represent him in this engagement. It shows the value Mr Speaking has for your visit. If not, he wouldn’t have sent people in our capacity to come and represent him. On behalf of our dear Speaker, we want to thank you for this beautiful award”. He averred.
Responding to the request earlier made by Nzuko Obodoukwu clan for the Hon. Speaker to sight a Water Borehole that will service the Ultra Modem Cold room built by Nzuko Obodoukwu clan Port Harcourt branch in Obodoukwu community, Ideato North, Imo State.
He opined “We have heard you request, we come to represent without having that in mind, but we will do well to extend your request to Mr Speaker. And Mr. Speaker is a man of diligence and prudence, but again, when something has to do with developmental projects, I can assure you he always stood out and be generous, that is the type of sacrifice he enjoys doing, and we are following him in that direction.
We shall do well to extend this information to him, and I don’t have any doubt that he will react positively, because he has listen ears.”
Hon. Ernest Udeze Okechukwu member representing Ideato North state constituency, an illustrious son of Obodoukwu, congratulated Nzuko Obodoukwu clan Port Harcourt branch as trailblazer in the development of the community. He enjoyed other branches of Nzuko Obodoukwu clan to emulate the footsteps of Port Harcourt branch in developing their community.
He further assured that Mr. Speaker will attend to their request; noting that they are working as a family in Imo state house of assembly and Mr. Speaker will always listen to him.
Earlier in their address, the Chairman of Nzuko Obodoukwu clan Port Harcourt, Comrade (Amb) Calistus Nnadika pointed out that (during the commissioning ceremony of the Ultra Modern Cold room on the 28th December 2023) the community decided to honour some well meaning individuals; base on their performances, our brother Hon. Okechukwu Udeze graciously nominated Mr. Speaker which they quickly accepted.
“we are here today to present this Distinguished Service Award in recognition of Mr. Speaker’s tireless efforts to see that good laws are made for good government and governance of Imo State.
At this juncture on behalf of Obodoukwu community, the President General of Obodoukwu clan and our Eze before his departure directed that we should present this award to the Speaker of Imo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon Chike Olemgbe,” the chairman asserted.
Ambassador Nnadika highlighted the ideas behind their passion for developing their community, and enumerated some of the laudable projects Port Harcourt branch of Nzuko Obodoukwu clan under his leadership started and completed.
“This is a branch of Nzuko Obodoukwu clan Port Harcourt, we are the apostle of Akụ rué ụlọ, we have been preaching this gospel everywhere and everytime. Right now there is six classroom block we have built for our community in the second school.
The branch has awarded scholarships and education grants to Obodoukwu indigent students whose parents are residing in Port Harcourt both secondary and tertiary institutions.
We have added this ultra modern Cold room and many other philanthropic gestures to encourage people to come home and begin to invest and develop our town”.
“We checked around Ideato it’s only Akokwa and Uga towns that have Coldrooms for our people dealing in perishable good and anything. When we have occasions we go to Uga or Akokwa towns to buy Ice blocks to preserve our items. We sunk over thirty Million Naira to build the Ultra modem Cold room”
“We are agitating for Biafra; this is kind of Biafra we are talking about, to come home invest and develop our town. It has been the slogan of our executive to attract investors to come and invest in our community. Nzuko Obodoukwu clan Port Harcourt is doing her best, people should also come home and invest!”. Comrade exclaimed.
Ambassador Nnadika after presenting the award to the Hon. Speaker on behalf of Nzuko Obodoukwu clan appealed to the Speaker to use his honour to sight a Water Borehole within the premises of the Ultra Modern Cold room in Obodoukwu community.
“Mr. Speaker we have an appeal to make. We appeal you use your good office to sight a Water Borehole at the Ultra Modern Cold room.
This Water Borehole apart from serving the Cold room, it will also serve the community, people leaving around there. As it is now, our financial strength can not carry the project of Water Borehole, Mr. Speaker Sir, we are appealing to you to help sink the Water Borehole.
We are not requesting for many, if you do this, it will be enough for us because we produce Ice block and other sanitary elements that requires water for use to service the Coldroom.
This is our humble appeal and if you do this Obodoukwu community will be happy with you” Amb. Nnadika concluded.
The award investiture ceremony witnessed the presence of Hon. Kelechi Ofurum, member representing Owerri North state constituency, Hon. Innocent Ikechukwu member representing Mbaịtolu State Constituency, Sir, H.E Nwabueze, Mr. Chima Vitalis Ezeigbo, Mr. Stanley Ohaere, Hon. Chijioke Ejieji, Sir, Sunny Ugochukw, Lady Charity Abogu and Mrs. Nkechi Edih.
