Niger State Government has disclosed that is organizing a contract farming as part of its agricultural initiative,aimed to inviting participation from interested Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs), including the Nigeria Customs Service.
Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago disclosed this at a reception in honor of retired Deputy Comptroller-General of Customs, organized by his family and friends in Abuja.
Governor Bago noted that the contract farming initiative is to provide opportunities for MDAs interested in crop production,so as to ensure food security.
According to Bago.The state government will offer cleared and prepared land for cultivation and will select the crops to be planted.
The Governor had expressed confidence that the initiative will significantly boost food production, thereby reducing the cost of food across the country.
