Nigeria (Football) Referees’ Association (NRA), Now Nigeria Football Referees’ Association (NFRA).- From- Chukwudi Ejimofor.

 

The Nigeria (Football) Referees’ Association has changed (NRA) to Nigeria Football Referees’ Association (NFRA).

In the communique issued at their 2024 annual general meeting (AGM) at Perdis Hotel, Yenegua, Bayelsa state on the 26th-28th June, 2024 stated that it was sequel to the registration of the Association’s name with the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC), hence the AGM approved the Association’s name as “NIGERIA FOOTBALL REFEREES’ ASSOCIATION (NFRA)

The AGM is the statutory annual event of the Association that had in attendance the President of the Association, the National Executive Committee of the Association, the state councils Chairmen and Secretaries, Zonal Coordinators, National Elders, Zonal Elders of the Association, and invited guests and observers.

The Annual General Meeting of the Association is the statutory forum where the stakeholders of the Association discusses the way forward and take binding decisions that affects the Association.

The communique at the end of 2024 Annual General Meeting (AGM) that was signed by Dr. Bashir Saidu chairman, Ejor Dimas member, F.A Yusuf member and Dele Atoun as Secretary communique drafting committee states as follows:

“that sequel to the registration of the Association’s name with the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC), the 2024 AGM approved the Association’s name as “NIGERIA FOOTBALL REFEREES’ ASSOCIATION (NFRA)”.

“that the 2024 Annual General Meeting appreciates the Governor of Bayelsa State, Senator Douye Diri for being a sports loving governor that has hosted several sporting events, including the 2024 Nigeria Football Referee Association AGM.

“that the 2024 Annual General Meeting thanked the President of the Nigeria Football Federation and the entire NFF Board for their support since the beginning of this Administration and for ensuring that Referees are no longer paying for the fitness test and seminar. We however appeal to the NFF President to extend this gesture to the Referee Assessors.

“that the Annual General Meeting also appreciates the NFF President for living up to his promise of ensuring that Referees who officiated in the various National Leagues in the just ended season are not owed”.

“that the AGM appealed to the NFF President to ensure that the backlog of indemnity owed the Referees in the previous NNL and NPFL seasons are paid”.

“that the AGM approved that henceforth, the female Referees can now write the National Promotional Examination annually as the maximum age of entry for Referee-In-Training (RIT) is slated at 24 years and the deadline for submission of forms for 2024 examination is extended to 7th July, 2024”.

“that the AGM scheduled the 2024 NFRA National Promotional Examination for Saturday 10th August, 2024”.

“that the 2024 AGM called on all stakeholders to put hands on deck to ensure adequate provision of securities at match venues to allow referees to discharge their duties diligently during football matches”.

“that the AGM Appealed to Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) President for upward review of the referees’ indemnities across the Leagues to cater for the rising cost of transportation and economic hardship”.

“that the AGM appealed to the leadership of NFRA to liaise with the NFF referees committee to promote equity in match appointments”.

and “that the 2024 AGM commended the effort of the NFF to revive the Super Eagles 2026 World cup qualification and prayed that the effort should yield a positive outcome for the Super Eagles. The AGM also prayed for all our national teams to qualify for various international tournaments” the communique concluded.
