Anambra Gov’t to recover land grabbed from a single mother of 4 – From Ngwuja Ugwuoke/Awka

An orphan and single mother of four children, Mss Victoria Nzubechukwu Mbachu aged 24 years has been assured by Anambra state government that it would intervene to recover her ancestral home taken over by a suspected land gabber.

Mss Mbachu who has been under the custody of a home being ran by a Catholic Rev. Sister where the Anambra state command of the National Agency for Prohibition on Trafficking in Persons, (NAPTIP) sent her and her children since the agency rescued them since November 2, 2023, yesterday (today, Thursday) appealed to the Commissioner for Women and children Welfare, Anambra state, Mrs Ify Obinabo to assist recover her home for her.

She told the Women and Children Welfare Commissioner that she was sometime in 2021 forced to flee her ancestral home in circumstances beyond her control, and, that after NAPTIP rescued her and her children from Ogun state, and, returned them to Anambra state , she and her children had remained under the custody of the Rev. Sister because someone had taken over her father’s home.

Already a two-storey building is being constructed on Mss Mbachu’s family compound at Umuona village, Ebenesi, Nnobi community in Idemili-south LGA of Anambra state by someone (name withheld) who is laying claims that he purchased the land.

Responding to Mss Mbachu who visited her with her four children (a boy and three females) in her ministry’s office at Prof Dora Akunyili Women Development Centre, Awka, the Anambra state Women and children Welfare Commissioner assured Mss Mbachu that her Ministry would make sure that she got justice on her land.

It has been learnt that the Anambra state command of the NAPTIP is currently investigating the allegations of trafficking of Mbachu and her four children to Ogun state enroute Benin Republic before the agency rescued them and brought them back to Anambra state.
