Joe Ajaero, the President of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), has been arrested by operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS).
He was taken into custody on Monday morning at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja.
According to our correspondent , Ajaero was preparing to board a flight to the United Kingdom for an official assignment when he was detained.
Although the reasons for his arrest remain unclear, sources indicate that he has been handed over to the National Intelligence Agency (NIA) for further investigation.
Ajaero was scheduled to attend the Trade Union Congress (TUC) conference in the UK, which is set to take place today.
