ABIA State Governor Dr. Alex Otti(OFR) has extended his best wishes and that of the good people of the state to Muslim faithfuls in the state, and beyond as they celebrate this year’s Eld-el-Maulud which marks the birth of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (SAW).
Governor Otti, in his message, signed by his Chief Press Secretary (CPS) Citizen Ukoha Njoku Ukoha, underscored the importance of Ed- el- Maulud as a time of deep reflection, spiritual renewal, and unity.
He highlighted the values that Prophet Muhammad (SAW) embodied—peace, humility, love for fellow humans, and dedication to the service of God—as key lessons that should guide all citizens, irrespective of their religious affiliations.
In his administration’s quest for good governance, Governor Otti drew parallels between the Prophet’s emphasis on justice, fairness, and equality with his government’s vision for a prosperous and all-inclusive governance in Abia State.
He stressed that Abia, being a state of diverse faiths, has always stood out as a beacon of tolerance and peaceful coexistence.
This year’s celebration, according to Governor Otti, offers another opportunity for all Abians to reaffirm their commitment to unity, understanding, and respect for one another.
Governor Otti appreciates the significant contributions of the Muslim community in Abia State to the state’s development and encourages them to continue playing a pivotal role in fostering peace and mutual respect for one another.
He assured them of his administration’s dedication to ensuring an environment where all residents, regardless of their religious backgrounds, can thrive in harmony.
“As the faithful gather for prayers and celebrations, Governor Otti calls on Muslims to reflect on the teachings of the Holy Prophet, especially in these challenging times, and to pray for continued peace and progress in Abia State and Nigeria as a whole,” the statement concluded.
