Two pastors from the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) have been suspended following allegations of homosexual conduct.
According to Candid Reporters, the suspension was confirmed in a memo dated October 28, 2024, signed by Sunday Akande, the church’s national overseer. The memo, addressed to the general overseer’s special assistant for administration, calls for a comprehensive investigation into the accusations against the pastors.
The church emphasized that its doctrine categorically disallows and condemns any acts of homosexuality, citing biblical backing for their stance. Akande noted that the pastors have been temporarily relieved of their duties while the investigation proceeds.
An inquiry is set to be carried out within two weeks, with a focus on maintaining confidentiality and integrity throughout the process, respecting all individuals involved.
The memo asserts: “As per our mission’s commitment to biblical teachings, these allegations must be treated with the seriousness they deserve.” It also underscores the church’s unwavering position against homosexuality, referencing specific biblical verses to support this view.
