Ebonyi Coalition of Civil Society Organisations (EBCSOs) has called for increased partnership and collaboration with government and non state actors to achieve the aims of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in Ebonyi.
The body, an umbrella organisation of registered CSOs in Ebonyi made the call on Saturday in Abakaliki during its 2024 Summit with the theme: “Strategic Partnerships and Collaboration: Exploring Benefits of Alliances and Knowledge Management.”
Dr Kenechukwu Okezie, the Co-Chair of the coalition in his welcome address thanked members and participants in the summit for their commitment in moving the organisation forward.
He listed some of the achievements of the coalition to include; direct interventions in various SDGs thematic areas of health, gender equality, education, environment, good governance among others.
Okezie, the Executive Director of Neighbourhood Environment Watch (NEW) Foundation said that the coalition has built levels of alliances with government institutions and thanked the state government for the enabling environment created for the civil society to operate.
He called for more partnerships and collaboration by state and non state actors as partners in development towards the realisation of the sustainable development Goals.
He charged the members of the coalition to remain united and continue their good works in the overall development of the state.
“We have built a considerable level of alliances between state and non state actors in our determined commitment to achieve the goals of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in its various thematic areas,” Okezie said.
Meanwhile, in his good will message, the Commissioner for Grants and Donor Agencies, Chief Solomon Azie, expressed appreciation to the coalition and commended them for their great services to the people of Ebonyi.
He assured of continued support and partnership of his ministry and urged the coalition members to avail themselves of the opportunities the ministry offered.
Also, the Director General of Ebonyi State Medium and Small Scale Development Agency ( EBSMEDAN), Dr Stephen Odoh, thanked the coalition for the works it is doing and assured of the partnership and support of EBSMEDAN.
