The 43rd edition of Federal Civil Service Games christened Simplified Rivers 2024 Federal Civil Service Games will kickoff in Port-Harcourt, the Rivers state capital on November 27, and end on December 5, 2024.
At a press briefing on Friday at the conference hall, Rivers State Secretariat; organised by the central planning committee of the games; the Secretary to Rivers state government, Hon. Dr. Tammy Wanike Danagogo Esqr. DSSRS, said Rivers state governor has approved the hosting of the games in the state, adding that the state is fully ready for the games.
“His Excellency has granted his approval for this games to be held in Rivers state. By the grace of God we are ready to get every necessary facilities ready to ensure that we organize, host very seamless and superlative games in Rivers state. As you have already heard the games is christened Simplified Rivers 2024. It will be holding from Wednesday 27th of November to Thursday 5th of December. It is expected that arrivals will start from Monday 25th and Tuesday 26th to get set to start on the 27th November. Am sure before that day they will give you the details of different events from that 27th November to 5th December”.
Dr. Danagogo further assured all the participants of the hospitality known for Rivers State, promised safe and secured environment for all, before during and after the games
“We assure that we will bring to bear the usual Rivers hospitality when you arrive. We are looking forward to top notch security and secured environment for you people to move freely express yourself and compete to be winners”. Dr. Danagogo averred.
The head of Service Rivers State, Dr. George Nwaeke, FCA mni, Co-chairman of central organizing committee of 2024 Simplified Federal Civil service games said “The governor received the right of hosting with a great joy and a local planning Committee has been set in place and has been working.
He continued. “Me as a civil servant, am particularly happy that we’re are receiving our colleagues from federal establishment to Rivers State. And as civil servants we understand that this particular event will give our state better opportunity to interact with our colleagues at federal level. And also it will foster in new opportunity of our people here. At the end of the day we are looking forward to a very memorable games. We have already put in place all necessary facilities for the games”.
The President of civil service federation games Comrade Aloku Amaebi in his speech thanked Rivers state governor for accepting to host the 43rd edition of the games
“We want to use this opportunity also to commend the Executive Governor of Rivers State for accepting to bring this project to Rivers State, and the service is ready for all these departments and agencies across the 36 states of the federation are all ready for the games”.
Comrade Amaebi praised the central organizing committee for their efforts so far to ensure that the final stage of the preparation is set.
“I want to also commend the central planning committee for what I have seen on ground I think they at the final stage of the preparation for the games all is set for the games, so I want to charge the Press to give enough publicity to thee games so that we will mobilize local participation especially Traders and Artisan to take advantage of the games. Because definitely it’s going to grow the GDP of the state”
The President of civil service games federation gave the number of athletes and games that is expected during the sports festival
“We would be expecting not less than ten thousand athletes, official and dignitaries to participate and sixteen games to be compete for in the games festival. Rivers state will be hosting such fasting is going to be a great win to Rivers state.
“The federation of federal service game as it stands today is one of the biggest sports festival going on in the country. It is in the ranks o national sports festival in terms of size the magnitude of the event, and also the magnitude of strength of participation”. Comrade Amaebi Stated.
Amaopu Joe Johnson, Hon. Commissioner for information anchored the Press briefing and members of the central planning committee of the games were presence during the Press briefing.
