NRC Celebrates Women in Rail on International Women’s Day

 

The Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) marked this year’s International Women’s Day (IWD) by honoring Women in Rail (WIR).

In a statement issued on Saturday in Lagos, NRC Managing Director, Dr. Kayode Opeifa, commended the contributions of women to the critical transport sector. The statement was released by Mahmood Yakub, Deputy Director of Public Relations.

Dr. Opeifa praised the dedication and enthusiasm of women across various roles within the railway industry, from janitors to engineers, emphasizing their vital role in the sector’s growth. He stated, “On this International Women’s Day, we celebrate all women in Nigeria, particularly those in the railway system, for their steadfast commitment to advancing the industry.”

He also reiterated the NRC’s commitment to prioritizing the welfare of its employees, particularly women, pledging to support their development and advancement.

Dr. Opeifa encouraged women in the sector to remain dedicated to their roles and continue contributing to the railway industry’s progress. He assured that the NRC would persist in its efforts to promote the empowerment and development of women within the railway sector.
