Sir Emenike Nwaokeojii ANLCA National President and Controller M. Babadede During The Visit.
The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) is poised to maintain her statutory role to Licenced Customs Agents in the Ports to facilitate their trade maximally and for the customs service to earn their maximum revenue from the Agents.
The Controller of Customs Service Onne Area 11 Port, Mr. M. Babadede made the remarks while answering questions from Journalists during the official visit of the national President of Nigeria Licenced Customs Agent (ANLCA) Chief Emenike Nwaokeojii to Onne Sea Port chapter of the association.
He said “Nigeria Customs Service is always ready to work with agencies at the Ports, Nigeria Licenced Customs Agents (ANLCA) should sensitize their members and the Importers that there is need to jack up the Cargo declaration. If their integrity is high, it will help us to facilitate their trade. But if their integrity is low there will be issues. They should remember the policy thrust of the Controller General of Customs, which is collaboration, consolidation and innovation. We are working maximally to make sure we collect maximum revenue”.
Speaking earlier during the visit the national President of Nigeria Licenced Customs Agent (ANLCA) Mr. Emenike Nwaokeojii presented the newly elected Hon. Ifeanyi Isikaku led executive members of ANLCA Onne Sea Port chapter to the Controller.
Mr. Emenike Nwaokeojịị solicited for the Controller’s understanding for the activities of the ANLCA in the Port, stressing that the Controller should call the attention of the national body should any matter beyond the chapter’s control arises.
The ANLCA national President also paid similar visits to other agencies at the Port. At the Nigeria Ports Authority (NPA), Onne Complex the Ports Manager Mr. Abdurahmon Hussain thanked the ANLCA President and his entourage for the visit. He congratulated the newly elected chairman and his executive, solicited for their cooperation, and pledge to work with them.
At the West Africa Container Terminal (WACT) the General Manager Mr. Jeethy Joseph, the General Manager, Government and Public Relations Mr. Innocent Ogbuji and Head of legal Mr. Chester Odagwe expressed readiness of their organization to work with ANLCA.
At ICTSI Onne Multipurpose Terminal (OMT) the MD/COE Nicolo Scqnnavini, the COO, Jim Steceget and the Commercial and Customer Care Manager, Okogbue Charles received the ANLCA national President Mr. Nwaokeojịị and the newly ANLCA chapter of Onne Port, they pledged to expand their scope of synergy with ANLCA.
Intimating Journalist at the sideline of the visit, Hon. Ịfeanyị Ịsịkaku Chairman Onne Port chapter of ANLCA highlighted the major essences of the national President’s visit to Onne Port. He said “The national President of Nigeria Licence Customs Agent (ANLCA) Chief Emenike Nwaokeojii’s visit to Onne Sea Port chapter of the our association was as the tradition demanded; when once a new elected officers emerge in any chapter of the association, it is the duty of the national President to introduce them to the Nigeria Customs Service and other agencies at the Ports”.
The chapter chairman continued “In the course of his visit, we visited the Nigeria Ports Authority (NPA), the West African Container Terminal (WACT), and the Onne Multi Purpose Terminal (OMT). He came basically to fulfill his constitutional responsibilities; in other words he has authenticated our election”. Hon. Isikaku reiterated.
On the problem facing his members in the Port he said “Here in Onne Sea Port we are having the problem of server. The one on ground is not giving us what we want, but the Customs Controller has promised to improve on what is ground”.
On his chapter’s relationship with government agencies at Onne Sea Port, the chairman opined that “Nigeria License Customs Agent (ANLCA) was formed in 1954, and this chapter is as old as the association. We have existing relationships with every organization in the Sea Port, including the Nigeria Customs Service. My administration has come to build on those existing relationships, and make them more open. We are not here to fight government agencies.
The Controller told us that there are two things they will never undermine; anything that will go against the national security and public health; we all know what that those things means. As a chapter chairman, I am coming to help him him achieve his goals”.
Hon. Isikaku charged his members to be law abiding stressing that the welfare of his members are his upmost priority.
“The welfare of our members is priority for us. Making sure our members do their trade seamlessly. And I advice them to keep doing things that could be law abiding. They should not do anything that will hamper the national security and public health. The should join to safeguard this country”.
Recall that on the 6th of February 2025 ANLCA Onne Sea Port chapter held their Chief Ifeanyi Isikaku Chairman, Alhaji Ahmed Zaccah Vice Chairman, Mr. Onyinye Igweonu Secretary, Pius Onyemaizu Financial Secretary, Samuel Amadi Treasurer and Hon. Obinna Nwachukwu Public Relations Officer for a three year tenure.
Highlight of the visit was honouring National President, Mr. Emenike Nwaokeojii, the former President and BoT member, Chief Ernest Elochukwu and the pioneer Onne Chapter Chairman Chief Jerry Kalu with an Award by the Onne Chapter Chairman Hon. Ịfeanyị Ịsịkaku.
