Julius Abure
IT is with utmost disappointment and strong condemnation that I respond to the shameful and ill-motivated remarks made by Julius Abure, the embattled former National Chairman of the Labour Party, wherein he described His Excellency, Dr. Alex Chioma Otti, OFR, Executive Governor of Abia State, as a “dwarf both in appearance and in knowledge.”
Such an unguarded statement is not only reckless but reeks of envy, pettiness, and desperation. Dr. Alex Otti, by all standards, stands tall, physically, intellectually, morally, and in terms of leadership delivery.
In less than two years in office, Governor Otti has redefined governance in Abia State with a clear sense of purpose, discipline, and vision.
Roads are being reconstructed, hospitals are being revived, civil servants are paid as and when due, and infrastructural renaissance is ongoing across the state.
These are not the actions of a “dwarf” but of a giant in intellect and leadership.
Julius Abure, on the other hand, is a man whose image has been battered by allegations of corruption, internal party chaos, and questionable financial dealings that have discredited the Labour Party under his watch.
His outburst against Governor Otti can best be understood as the final scream of a drowning man gasping for relevance.
He was imposed, used, and is now being discarded by powerful forces. His insistence as Chairman of the Party, despite the explicit Supreme Court decision, is mind-boggling.
Let it be known that Dr. Alex Otti is not deterred by the rantings of political jobbers. He enjoys the confidence, admiration, and support of the good people of Abia State who are witnessing, many for the first time, what purposeful governance looks like.
Whether he chooses to run under the Labour Party or any other political platform in 2027, Abians will follow him, not because of party colouration, but because of the substance of his leadership.
We call on Abure to bury his face in shame and stop being an agent of destabilization. Governor Alex Otti will not be distracted. He will continue to serve Abia with integrity, courage, and clarity of purpose.
