The conventional Nigerian politicians have been charged to emulate the leadership qualities and prowess of the out-gone President of the Association of Anambra State Development Unions (AASDU) in Rivers State, Comrade Sunny Chidube
Chief Barth Emeka Nwaibe, Ugo Ịgboukwu gave the charge in his office during a courtesy visit of the newly elected officers of the union, he said “first let me commend the immediate past President and his team for their dedication, commitment, honesty and their understanding for what service means, and it’s a thing of joy that after their tenure they handedover power to the next democratically elected team, my brother Comrade Sunny, you did very well.
Chief Barth Emeka Nwaibe, Ugo Ịgboukwu (Ezeugonáasaa), a merit Chief of Ịgboukwu town in Aguata Local Government Area of Anambra State further commended the former president and his executive, he opined “I must thank you for finding time, abandoning everything you do to pursue the welfare of Ndị-Anambra in Rivers state, because it comes with huge sacrifice. It is you people who are doing it at this level that are truly serving the people.
Unfortunately, some Nigerians who found themselves in the position of leadership do not understand this. That is why the country is in this bad shape.

Chief Barth Emeka Nwaibe, who is the group managing director of Segofs Energy Group admonished the incumbent executive led by Chief Kenneth Chijioke Ilo to work and surpass the achievement of his predecessor, he averred “And those of you who are recently elected, most improve on what they have done, because in most association in Nigeria one man will held to power for too long, that will result to court litigations. But Comrade Sunny has set a standard and pace, and I hope we shall continue like that because Ndị-Anambra are unique wherever we are.
The accomplished oil and gas expert further depicted the importance of more associations such as AASDU in Ịgbo land and in Nigeria at large; according to him, the society will be better with the existence of them. “So, I am encouraged that you people did your best for Anambra State. If we build Anambra State strongly in Port Harcourt, Aba and wherever Ndị-Anambra are, we are helping to build Anambra state, Nigeria and the society will get better. All the shining stars in Ịgbo comes from Anambra state; Nnamdi Azikiwe, Alex Ekwueme, Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu, Chinua Achebe etc, they are from Anambra, and by the grace of God the next Igbo President will come from Anambra state and of course Nigeria will get better. We don’t discriminate, we welcome everybody.
Despite his tight and busy schedules, Ugo Ịgboukwu pledged his loyalty and commitment to AASDU, positing that “I thank you very much, I appreciate this visit, sometimes some of us will not be attending meetings, but be rest assured that we are committed to the course of AASDU, because we are proud Anambra people.
Earlier in his address, the leader of the delegation, the immediate Past AASDU President, Comrade Sunny Chidubem stated the purpose and essence of the courtesy visit. He said “Ugo Ịgboukwu, courtesy demands as we are leaving the office we should introduce and acquaint the new executive to the key major stakeholders, those that are the bedrock of our association, for them to familiarize and identify themselves with them. We also deemed it wise to come along with the executive of the women’s wing of our association ably led by Iyom Diamond Nkechinyere Okekearu.
Speaking on behalf of the incumbent executives, Chief Kenneth Chijioke Ilo, the ASSDU President pured encomium on the out-gone president and his executives, he said “handing over batting to us, the new executive of the association, Comrade Sunny has performed creditably well, as a result to that, the new executives decided as the President emeritus, he should flow along with us to enhance continuity in the leadership and affairs of the association”.
The AASDU President harped more on the reason of their visit and the targeted goals of the his led executive, “As we assumed office, we decided also to felicitate and identify with core stakeholders of the association, those that helped the Association of Anambra State Development Union AASDU to reach to the top echelon we are today.

AASDU has been in existence for more than thirty years, and we are promising that the leadership under our watch shall advance the course to higher pedestrians than we meet it. At THE LIGHT ARENA building project; work has reached to an advanced stage and work shall recommence soon”.
Chairman of 2025 AASDU cultural week Chief, Ambassador Okey Nwanna ceased the opportunity to inform Ugo Ịgboukwu about the 2025 AASDU cultural day schedule on the 17th and 18th of October 2025 and also intimate him about their plans and some of the activities of the cultural fiesta.
Highlight of the visit was the introduction of newly elected officers and that of women’s wing of the association.

Recall, on the 24th November 2024 when Comrade Sunny Chidubem led executive concluded their second tenure, AASDU had an election that ushered in new executive that would pilot their affairs in the next four years. Thus; Chief Kenneth Chijioke Ilo, President, Sir. Chris Nwankwo, First Vice President, Chief Ikechukwu Otti, Second Vice President. Mr. Obiajulu Collins Eze, Secretary General, Engr. Uchendu Chijioke Ilo, Assistant Secretary General. Dr. Michael Nwabueze, Financial Secretary, Ugochukwu Aniche, Assistant Financial Secretary, Mr. Ifeanyi Maduelosi Treasurer, Engr. Bernard Udeoba Publicity Secretary, Engr. Paul Sunday Nkàchukwu, Assistant Publicity Secretary, Chief Nzelibe Samuel, Director of Social, Mr. Chukwuebuka Nwokocha, Assistant Director of Social. Ambassador Festus Igwebuike, Provost 1, and Mr. Nnenna Nnamdi Emeka, Provost 2 were elected.
