The OODaniels Foundation (OODF), a non-profit organisation has commended a former House of Representatives member, Mr Livinus Makwe, for his commitment to grassroots development and support for indigent citizens.
Mr Daniel Okorie, President and founder of the foundation made the commendation while briefing journalists on Wednesday in Abakaliki on the planned end of the year activities of his foundation.
The foundation committed to youth empowerment and educational development in Nigeria said Makwe had continued to inspire hope and show leadership beyond public office through various philanthropic gestures.
Okorie was reacting to the recent distribution of over 250 bags of 50 kilogrammes bags of rice by the former federal lawmaker in collaboration with Federal Cooperative College Oji-River, to indigent and good people of Ivo Local Government Area of Ebonyi.
The foundation noted that Makwe, who represented Ohaozara/Onicha/Ivo Federal Constituency of Ebonyi between 2019 and 2023, has remained active on the public scene through consistent donation of empowerment items to the less privileged persons.
The president added that Makwe who hails from Ishiagu in Ivo LGA has been supporting tertiary education in his area through the award of university scholarships to brilliant but indigent students in his OHANIVO Federal constituency.
He applauded the former reps member for remaining active on the public scene through consistent donations of empowerment items to the less privileged and charity organisations.
“Makwe’s sustained commitment to the welfare of his people after leaving office shows that true leadership is rooted in service; he has continued to touch lives positively especially the downtrodden, the elderly and the needy,” Okorie said.
Okorie, a Canadian-based estate lawyer who said that leadership must be anchored on selfless service to people called on other past and serving political office holders to emulate Makwe by initiating programmes that directly improve the lives of the people.

He also reaffirmed his foundation’s willingness to collaborate with well-meaning individuals and organisations to promote education, youth empowerment and rural development in parts of Ebonyi. ENDS//
