Apparently overwhelmed by pressures from political stakeholders, Ebonyi state Governor Francis Nwifuru, on Tuesday, ordered the 25 commissioners and several other senior government officials including permanent secretaries suspended last week for not attending a state function, to resume duties with immediate effect.
The resumption order was contained in a statement issued on Tuesday by Dr. Monday Uzor, Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, and obtained by SummitNews.
It reads, “The Governor of Ebonyi State His Excellency Rt. Hon. Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru has graciously lifted the suspension on 81 Government officials.
“The Governor directed the Commissioners, Senior Special Assistants , Special Assistants and Permanent Secretaries who were suspended on the 28th of July, 2025 to resume official duties immediately.”
SummitNews learnt that several political heavyweights from the state, especially members of the governing All Progressives Congress (APC), remonstrated against the suspension order, and warned that it could lead to public loss of confidence on Governor Nwifuru, who is currently doing his first tenure.
