The Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of Keves Global Leasing Limited, Chief Ikenna Kelvin Okafor, Ịde Akwaeze, has advised leaders to maintain consistency in recognition and involvement of their predecessors in what they are doing and in the administration of their organizations; adding that it’s while recognizing their predecessors that the leader will continue from where they stopped, for in continuity, objective administration and project execution will thrive.
The Humanitarian Service Icon Award Winner made the admonition when the executive members of Association of Anambra State Development Unions (AASDU) led by their immediate past President Comrade Sunny Chidube paid him a courtesy visit in his office in Port Harcourt.
He said “I always advise that while you’re in the office, you have two things to do, either you build on what you met on ground or you improve on what you met on ground. The worst you can do is to disown the leadership you met on ground; add you own skills to compliment what you met on ground. Consistency is the major part of improving your leadership prowess, but don’t go back to the drawing board, you don’t go back to the drawing board everything” he reiterated.
Responding to their plead for him to support the activities of the union, especially the upcoming AASDU cultural events and the support for the completion of the THE LIGHT ARENA building project, Ịde Akwaeze pledged to be part of any good intentions that uplifts Ndị-Anambra in Rivers state.
He said, “I have noted the date of the cultural festival, we are going to support the event. You also talked about the completion of THE LIGHT ARENA. The level of transparency in you leadership will earn you the more financial supports you needed”.
Chief Ikenna Kelvin Okafor who is also the managing director Keves Inn And Suites and Arthur Services Company Limited thanked them for the visit. He however urged them to be time conscious in their appointments schedules.
“I thank you very much for this visit, you are welcomed, but if it is not about Ndị-Anambra you wouldn’t have seen me as you arrived hours after the scheduled time. I take my appointment very serious because my scheduled are very tight. It’s always good to keep to appointed time”.
Earlier, the leader of the delegation, Comrade (Amb) Sunny Chidube highlighted the reason for the courtesy visit. He expressed regret for their late coming as against the scheduled time.
“Ịde Akwaeze, we are here for a courtesy visit, primarily to introduce to you the newly elected executive of AASDU. We are sorry for our delay in responding to the time slated for this visit, it was actually my fault, they were here earlier, but due to the fact am the person to introduce them as the out-gone President they have to wait for my arrival. On behalf the deligation, I profusely apologize for our late arrival. Ịde Akwaeze, the person beside me is the incumbent President of AASDU, Chief Kenneth Chijioke Ilo. I will plead for the President to introduce his executive members” Comrade Chidube posited.
In his address, AASDU President Chief Kenneth Chijioke Ilo formally introduced his entourage and acquainted him on challenges and the progresses of the association.
He said “Ide Akwaeze, my name is Kenneth Chijioke Ilo, I hail from Oraeri, in Aguata Local Government Area. Our executive members will formally introduce themselves to you. We thank you for receiving us in your office and also thank you for all your benevolence to AASDU as union. At THE LIGHT ARENA, the extent of work done has been subjected to a facility test by an international building construction evaluation concern, and they have approved that it stands the test of time. We suspended the ongoing work in the building project to make way for the cultural week; after the cultureral week, we shall commence the next stage and probably the conclusion stage of the building project. Again, presently some member towns of AASDU are using the facility to host their monthly meetings”.
“We also want to formally bring to your notice that this year, we are organizing ASSDU 2025 cultural festival which comes up on the 17th and 18th October. We decided to commence the planning and preparations early to correct the mistake we do encounter in the past”. Chief Kenneth Ilo stated.
Relatively, Ambassador Okey Nwanna the chairman of main organizing committee of the cultural week briefed him on the programme of the cultural week. He said, “Ide Akwaeze, just as the President has explained, the main organizing committee has commence preparations. And Anambra cultural week this year will be top-notch. On the 17th shall be festival of honored, and 18th October shall be the cultural day proper, the venue is Yakubu Gowan Stadium Elikahia. The chairman of this year’s edition is your friend, Chief, Engr. Sir. Innocent Akuvue, Ọchọudo N’Nibo, has given accent to our request to be the chairman for the two days event”.
The committee chairman expressed the appreciation of the association for his supports and encouragements for course of AASDU in Rivers state.
“We must thank you for your support in last edition. Ndị-Anambra generally is immensely grateful to you in all what you did and still doing which stood as pillars for AASDU to standing tall in the comity of states in Rivers. Nobody talks about AASDU today without mentioning you name”.
Ambassador Okey Nwanna solicited for his support before and during the cultural week.
“In this year’s cultural week, we plead for your total support as usual; years ago about AASDU it was you, today it’s still you. We are very sorry for not meeting up with the scheduled time. Please accept our shortcomings in that direction it won’t happen next time”. Ambassador Nwanna averred.
Recall, on the 24th November 2024 when Comrade Sunny Chidubem led executive concluded their second tenure, AASDU had the election that ushered in new executive that would pilot their affairs in the next four years. Thus; Chief Kenneth Chijioke Ilo, President, Sir. Chris Nwankwo, First Vice President, Chief Ikechukwu Otti, Second Vice President. Mr. Obiajulu Collins Eze, Secretary General, Engr. Uchendu Chijioke Ilo, Assistant Secretary General. Dr. Michael Nwabueze, Financial Secretary, Ugochukwu Aniche, Assistant Financial Secretary, Mr. Ifeanyi Maduelosi Treasurer, Engr. Bernard Udeoba Publicity Secretary, Engr. Paul Sunday Nkàchukwu, Assistant Publicity Secretary, Chief Nzelibe Samuel, Director of Social, Mr. Chukwuebuka Nwokocha, Assistant Director of Social. Ambassador Festus Igwebuike, Provost 1, and Mr. Nnenna Nnamdi Emeka, Provost 2 were elected in office.
