A Rivers State Civil society group, Rivers People’s Right Initiative has risen against the full scale infractions against the State with appointments into boards of agencies and commissions few days to the end of emergency rule.
The group in a statement on Tuesday, September 16, 2025 in Port Harcourt signed by Jeffrey Wokoma exposed the filling of all boards of agencies and Councils of tertiary institutions in the State by the illegal Sole Administrator, Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas (rtd) just 5 days to his exit as the emergency rule expires, describing it as evil machination against the people.
The group observations, the statement noted, stemmed from the last week inauguration of the Board of Ken Saro Wiwa Polytechnic, Bori, Captain Elechi Amadi Polytechnic, Port Harcourt, and Governing Councils of Rivers State University and Ignatius Adjuru University of Education, Rumuolumeni.
They emphasised that doing such is flagrant violations of all known democratic norms, saying President Tinubu foisted emergency rule for total State capture along with Chief Nyesom Wike against the wishes of the people.
They queried the rush for the appointments saying it was a wicked onslaught on Rivers people.
They condemned the actions as perpetrated through the Sole Administrator, Vice Admiral Ibas adding that posterity will always judge the anti-democratic posture of President Tinubu and the evil against Rivers people by Chief Nyesom Wike, describing those applauding the situation now as enemies of the State who are doing so because it benefits them today, the statement posited.
