Enugu ADC Gets A Boost As Support Group Emerges – From Our Correspondent

THE Leader, Enugu state African Democratic Congress (ADC), Rescue Nigeria Coalition Support Group, Dr. Walter Obiorah Oji, has appealed to all Nigerians to unite under the ADC platform to elect future leaders irrespective of tribe, religion or social class who would be committed to the enthronement of good governance at all levels of government in the country.

Dr. Oji, a one-time Chairman, Udi Local Government Area, Enugu state, made the appeal on Friday at the inauguration of the Enugu State Coordinating Committee, Rescue Nigeria ADC Support Group.

He said the country is in a serious jeopardy, adding that unless urgent and drastic actions are taken to turn the country around, “we may not have a country called Nigeria as we know it.”

“This is why I am delighted to note that many Nigerians are stepping forward and willing to make the necessary sacrifices required to establish good governance in our various states and in the federal government of Nigeria.

“To this end, Nigerians are calling for electoral reforms to address the deficiencies witnessed in the last elections, and to take matters into their own hands, if necessary, to lawfully ensure an atmosphere of violent free and fair elections,” the former gubernatorial aspirant said.

He thanked the ADC National Chairman, David Mark, a former senate president, and other officials of the party, for their unrelenting support in efforts to enthrone good governance in the country.

Also speaking at the occasion, the former Senior Special Assistant on Special Group Interest to ex-Vice President Atiku Abubakar, Hon. Dr. Nat Yaduma, called for unity and perseverance among members of the party to ensure victory at the polls during the next general elections.

He said the time was not ripe to struggle for elective positions at various levels, but rather emphasised on the pressing need to build a cohesive and strong party structures at the ward, local government, state and federal levels.

Major- Gen. Chris Ezeh(retd) a stakeholder from Udenu LGA, expressed support for for the group, adding that plans are afoot to bring some members of other political parties in the area under ADC.

Chief Anthony Nwachukwu, national coordinator, Rescue Nigeria ADC Support Group, said the group would support any candidate who emerges through the party primaries, adding that when the time comes, members would penetrate every household to canvass votes for candidates of the party.

The highlight of the event was the inauguration of members of the Enugu state Coordinating Committee, Rescue Nigeria ADC Support Group, with Hon. Okene Michael Chukwuemeka, as state coordinator, Chief Emmanuel Okenwa, Best Alor, state secretary, state deputy coordinator, State Woman Leader, Mrs. Urama Uzoamaka Cordelia,

Others are Chief Chinechieze C. Ochi, Polycarp Udah, vice coordinator, Enugu North and Enugu West senatorial districts respectively. Barr. Ogbodo Chiedizie I, state youth leader.

  1. Mr. Patrick Udechukwu becomes the state treasurer, while Akubue Ernest, is the state financial secretary.

The event which attracted a large audience, was also attended by delegates drawn from the 17 LGAs of the state.
