
THE Â Philippines Graduates’ Association of Nigeria (PHILGRAN), has ended its 8th national convention and gala night (13th to 15th November, 2025) at the Domus Sancti Spiritus, Holy Ghost Cathedral Enugu, Enugu state, with the election of new executive of the association to man the organization’s affairs for the next four years.
Those elected to occupy various positions are Eze Engr. Sir Gabby Emeka Dimude; President, Dr. Mrs. Fidelia Nzekwe-Chinwuko; Vice President, Engr. Benjamin Ikechukwu Egenti; Secretary General, Professor Yimka Samson Alalade; Assistant Secretary General, Madam Celia De Guzman Ogbonna; Financial Secretary, Rev. Father Onyekachukwu Amaegwu; Treasurer and Mr. Eddy Omaga; Public Relations Officer/Provost.
In his acceptance speech, Eze Engr. Sir. Gabby Emeka Dimude thanked his colleagues for bestowing huge honor and confidence.
He said “I stand before you to thank you for the rara privilege, trust and overwhelming confidence you reposed on us, to man this critical seat for the next four years”
The newly elected President, praised the efforts of the past administration and founding member of the association for keeping to fate of the association.
“I thank all of for the time and efforts you made to have this successful election. I will not end this speech without thanking the past administration because they did very well. Finally I thank the heavenly Father whom all glory belongs to”.
He asserted that with the support of the members and the BoT members of the association they will attend the expected heights of the association.
“I am making this affirmation with a pledge that we the new executive of PHILGRAN we shall not disappoint all of members of PHILGRAN. I request on behalf the entire executive to our BoT members and our chief Patron that with your support and encouragements, we shall achieve much higher”
In keeping with his election promises, Eze Engr Sir Emeka Dimude announced that the administration is working with the Philippines ambassador to Nigeria for PHILGRAN to partner with the Philippines Embassy in Nigeria.
He said “The Philippines Ambassador to Nigeria will soon join us in this 8th convention. We are already having discussions with will him. PHILGRAN will not be kept aside in scheme of things in the bilateral relationship of Nigeria and Philippines. In our next convention, PHILGRAN shall witness remarkable achievement in the areas of the connecting formally with the Filipino nation”.
PHILGRAN are going to be lesion between Nigeria and Philippines. PHILGRAN will not be at the conner anymore. We are going to travel to Philippines to meet their President on invitation. They needed PHILGRAN collaboration and we are going to give it to them this around”.
The highly elated PHILGRAN President contended that with his executive the future of PHILGRAN is economically bright
A bounty future is there for us to explore and exploit, and we looking forward to enhanced engagement with the Embassy for a noble purpose. We are going to run this Association with great new heights. we are collaborating with the Philippines their ambassador is here for the convention. We are going to collaborate for positive development with the Philippines. The welfare of our members is the executive top notch priority”. PHILGRAN President avarred.
Speaking to Journalist at the sideline of the event, Pharm. Nnamdi Obi, chief Patron of the Philippines Graduates’ Association of Nigeria (PHILGRAN) confirmed that the election was inline in tandem with PHILGRAN objectives. He said “This is the election year of PHILGRAN, and we have had a new change of gard. The election was done seamlessly there was no rencor at all”.
- Sir Nnamdi Obi further explained the reason for the convention. He said ” The essence of the convention is to strengthen the bound of relationship within PHILGRAN members. There so much Nigerians will benefit through this association. Bilateral relationship means so much and that is one of the things we are going to discuss with the ambassador who is going to join us any moment from now.”
