25TH OFALA: My Award Is A Wake-up Call – Chief Amaku

 

THE Co-Founder/Chief Executive Officer of Green Enterprises Development Ltd, Chief Uchenna Amaku, has described the award bestowed on him as a wakeup call, saying it will propel him to do more philanthropic work in the society.

Chief Amaku stated this on Sunday, shortly after his investiture as Udemba of Ifite-Ogwari community in Anyamelum Local Government Area in Anambra State by Igwe Ogidiga Ifite-Ogwari, Alphonsus Ofuebe while marking his 25th Ofala festival.

The Philanthropist said he intends to do more especially in terms of education, health management and infrastructural development.

Asked if he has personal relationship with the Igwe to deserve the traditional title, Chief Amaku said; “I do not have any personal relationship with the lgwe but I have a good relationship with the community based on the people in our employ and the little things I have done in the communily and I intend to do more especially in terms of education, health management and Infrastructural development.”

“Another feather in cap as I was honoured with a chieftaincy title by Igwe Alphosus Ofuebe. It is heartwarming”, he stated.

On the significance of Ofala festival, Chief Amaku explained, “Ofala is a yearly ritual that is expected from every traditional ruler in every Igbo communfty. You must perform the Ofala festival every year, that is the time the Igwe will interact with everybody in the communily, merry and discuss problems facing the community.”

The Green Enterprises Development Ltd Boss further stated, “we have a livestock farm and a couple of plantations here. We are an agro-allied company with huge investment in Ifite-Ogwari community. We are very interested in the youths because they form the bulk of our labour force and by time we are done with our production plant they will form a large percent of our employment force.So, my organization will pick the bright ones and train them in food processing”

“Green Enterprises Development Ltd is a company that is involved in procurement, facility management, and potentially broader green business initiatives.

“Nothing beats hard work, you have to be focused, you have to concentrate in what you are doing but then if you are focused or persistent you will overcome any obstacle”, he added.
