THE 15th Chief Emeka Anyaoku, distinguished Lecture has been scheduled to hold at Rock View Hotel, Owerri, the Imo state capital on Thursday, April 9 2026, says Ambassador Johnson Ogbonna.
Ogbonna in a statement made available to SummitNews stated that the lecture with the theme ‘Imperative of Good Governance in Nigeria,’ will be hosted by Imo State Governor Senator Hope Uzodimma.
“Chief Emeka Anyaoku’s annual distinguished lecture, also known as the Anyaoku Lecture Series, is a prominent Nigerian public policy forum focused on governance, leadership, and national development. The event brings together politicians, academics, diplomats, and civil society actors to stimulate debate on good governance in Nigeria,” the statement explains.
According to the statement, the key note address will be delivered by Prof.
Kate Azuka Omenugha, Vice Chancellor, Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University, while former governor of old Anambra state, Chief Jim Ifeanyichukwu Nwobodo, will chair the occasion.
The statement further states that Chief Emeka Anyaoku lecture series typically revolves around themes such as; Democracy and Constitutional Reforms, Leadership and Accountability National Unity, Restructuring Economic and Institutional Development.
The event is held in honor of Chief Emeka Anyaoku, a respected international elder statesman and former Secretary-General of the Commonwealth of Nations.
The lecture is open to all members of the public, including students of high institutions.
Dignitaries and Speakers that have graced the lecture in the past were; Gen. Yakubu Gowon, Chief John Oyegun, Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu, Chief Chukwuemeka Ezeife(both late), Donald Duke, Prof. Bart Nnaji, Prof. Anya O. Anya, Prof. Kingsley Moghalu, Prof. Eghosa Osaghae, Prof. Dora Akunyili(now late), Prof. Pat Utomi, Prof. Joseph Ajienka, Prof. Ayo Olukotun, Prof. Hope Eghagha, Dr. Reuben Abati, Senator Ben Bruce, and Senator Ben Obi.
The previous Lectures in the series had been hosted by the state Governors of Lagos, Anambra, Delta, Ogun, Edo, Abia, Ebonyi, Imo, Oyo, Rivers, Akwa Ibom.
