THE Flag Officer, Eastern Naval Command, Rear Admiral CD, Okeye, Admiralty Medal, says the Nigerian Navy Secondary School Borikiri Port Harcourt, Rivers State has zero tolerance for secret cult or act of criminality.
Rear Admiral Okeye, stated this while speaking with SummitNews during the school’s 2025/2026 academic session passing out parade/graduation ceremony.
Rear Admiral Okeye who was represented at the occasion by Navy Captain DB Odi described the 2025/2026 academic session passing out parade/graduation ceremony as very eventful.
“The occasion is a very wonderful event. It moved perfectly well. what you saw is the testimony of the fact that the Teachers, the command, the Commandant and the staffs have done a great job which has snowballed into what we saw today.’
On the prospects and expectations of the graduands, he said the students who graduated from Nigeria Navy secondary school; have already formed the foundation and the platform, and, therefore, have a large advantage, adding that they will not be going to NDA or any other school that has to do with the military.
According to him, interview, screening will be a thing of the past for those of them who performed well during the entrance examinations.”Our students are being brought up with extreme discipline. In our school we have zero tolerance for secret cult or act of criminality,” he said.
Admonishing the Parents, he said “The Parents have been doing a lot, the current situation in the country is such that people are faced with lots of difficulties. Our message to the parents is that they should not relent to support the school authority and their wards to put in their best for the school”.
Also speaking with Journalists, Paul Ikpati, Vice Principal, Administration, said Navy Secondary School Borikiri is number one in academic excellence in Rivers state, and one of the best in Nigeria Naval Secondary Schools in Nigeria.
“In Rivers state, no secondary school is ahead of us. In all the Naval command schools in Nigeria, we are on top. We have not scored less than 98% in WAEC and NECO exams. For quality of staffs; in this school, there is no department without a PhD holder. Our school fee when compared amongst the private schools, were are the lowest and our environment is learning friendly, our teachers are committed, and the Parents are doing their best”. One of the Parents Mr. Imoh John, a Businessman from Uyo, Akwa Ibom state. He acknowledged the excellent academic standard and quality of the school, but lamented on the cost. He however urged Parents to seek for the best education for their children no matter the cost.
- “My name is Chief Imoh John, I am from Uyo Akwa Ibom state. Today I am happy that my last son is passing out from the school in flying colours”.
“It was very difficult for me during his stay in this school especially in 2020 during the COVID 19 period. But I tried my best to retain him here. Today I am a happy man you can attest to that. I am not regretting whatever I spent here.”
“My advice to Parents is they should try as much as they can to give their children the best education, because it gives them the responsibility that will make them responsible in life” Chief Imoh John reiterated
Another Parent Lt. Commander D.U Anya (Rtd) whose son Daniel Anya Chidumebi Prosper emerged as the Best Graduating Student (Boy), Best Behaved Student, Outstanding Student Leader and Exemplary Character Award of 2025/2026 session. Said as a Parent the task of training ones child in the Navy Secondary School is demanding, but at the end of the day the benefits are enormous stressing that Parents should be resilience to achieve the best for their children”.
The 2025/2026 session of Naval Secondary School Borikiri had 186 graduating students.
