The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, and Gov. Francis Nwifuru of Ebonyi on Monday declared that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) would not secure any elective position in the state in the 2027 general elections.
They made the declaration during a rally at the Abakaliki Township Stadium organised by the state government and the Minister of Works, Sen. David Umahi, to endorse President Bola Tinubu for a second term.
The event was attended by Gov. Charles Soludo of Anambra, Gov. Hope Uzodinma of Imo and the Deputy Governor of Enugu, who represented Gov. Peter Mbah.
Yilwatda dismissed speculations that Ebonyi had been conceded to the PDP ahead of the 2027 elections, insisting that the APC remained firmly in control of the state.
According to him, the party is determined to retain the presidency, the governorship and all National and State Assembly seats in Ebonyi.
“Nobody has conceded Ebonyi to the PDP. There is no vacancy in the Government House and no vacancy for the PDP in Ebonyi in 2027,” he said.
The APC chairman commended the people of the state for their support for Tinubu and urged them to sustain it, citing the administration’s infrastructure and human capital development initiatives in the South-East.
Nwifuru also reaffirmed the state’s support for Tinubu, describing him as Ebonyi’s sole presidential candidate for the 2027 election.
He said the President had demonstrated commitment to the development of the state and the South-East through key appointments and infrastructure projects.
The governor particularly praised the appointment of Umahi as Minister of Works, noting that it had attracted significant federal projects to the region.
“Ebonyi has no other presidential candidate apart from President Bola Tinubu, and we will support his re-election,” Nwifuru said.
Speaking at the rally, Umahi said Tinubu had undertaken projects across Ebonyi and the South-East on a scale unmatched by previous administrations.
He described Ebonyi as a strong APC state and expressed confidence that the party would record another electoral victory in 2027.
The rally caused heavy traffic congestion within the Abakaliki metropolis, with major roads and adjoining streets experiencing significant gridlock during the event. ENDS//
