On 22nd August, 2026 history will be made in Adazị-Ani, Aniocha Local Government Area of Anambra State, when the gods of the land will compliment, the Mortal will encourage, the Temporal will witness, and the Spiritual will concur and celebrate the manifestation of a worthy cause for human existence.
All roads will lead to Adazị-Anị Ancient Kingdom on the 22nd of August, 2026 for the grand coronation of His Royal Highness, Igwe Dr. Benson Chinedu Madubuko, OFR, Ezeani Adazi-Ani 1, Igwe Chinaechendo 1 of Adazị-Anị Ancient Kingdom.

Adazi-Ani Ancient Kingdom is one of the communities with enormous political and economic potentials in Anaocha Local Government Area, Anambra State and Nigeria at large.
Adazi-Ani town is part of a toad of towns founded by the sons of Okotu, Adazị-Enu, Adazị-Anị and Adazị-Nnukwu who according to history migrated and settled in their present region in search of farmland.
The Community is primarily located along the Nnewi/Agulu Road. It shares geographic boundaries with Adazi-Enu, Obe, Agulu, Ichida, and Akwaeze.
Culturally, like many traditional Igbo communities, Adazi-Ani is organized around age grades, village meetings, and a traditional ruler (Igwe Kinship), preserving their cultural heritage and communal brotherhood.
Adazi-Ani ancient kingdom was predominantly an agrarian society, their economy is historically driven by agriculture (cultivating yam, cassava, and coco-yam). The local economy relies heavily on their community commerce, anchored by their famous Eke Adazi-Ani market
Contemporarily Adazị-Anị is known for its progress in infrastructure and financial services, hosting significant utility projects like an electricity injection substation and local financial institutions.
Wealthy indigenes and philanthropists, the likes of Igwe Chinaechendo have also heavily invested in upgrading internal road networks, pushing the community into a period of modernization.
On the 20th February 2026, Anambra State Government Confered titles on Traditional Rulers.
The recognized monarchs are from Azigbo in Nnewi South, Isulo in Orumba South, Amawbia in Awka South, Adazi-Ani in Anaocha, Ora-Eri in Aguata and Ndiowu in Orumba North local government areas.
Other beneficiaries of the reco of ourgnition include Igwe Justice Samuel Nwachukwu Okoye of Azigbo, Igwe Clement Nchetaka Onwuka of Isulo, Igwe Uche Sunday Okonkwo of Amawbia, Igwe Benson Chinedu Madubuko of Adazi-Ani, Igwe Ejike Ugoagbala of Ora-eri, and Igwe Sir. Ben Chibuzor Okekeifi of Ndiowu.
They were presented with certificates of recognition by the Anambra state governor, His Excellence Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo in a ceremony held at the Light House, Awka Anambra State.
In the history of Adazị-Anị, Anaocha LGA, Anambra State, there have been two recognized traditional rulers.
The lineage of traditional institution in Adazị-Anị commenced from HRH Igwe Robert N. Nwankwo (Igwe Ogene) who reigned 1975–2024. Ogene was officially installed as the first traditional ruler of Adazị-Anị in 1975 and had a remarkably long reign of forty-nine years.
He was an influential monarch, a major driver of the community development until his passing on 2024 at the age of Eighty-four (84). Huh
Before 1975, the Adazị-Anị was governed by ancient systems of governance led by titled elders, clan leaders, and the Nze na Ọzọ society, as the modern “Igwe” stool was not introduced until recent decades.
Following the transition of the late Igwe Ogene, the community underwent a succession process on February 20, 2026, Igwe Madubuko was officially presented with his certificate of recognition as the second traditional ruler of Adazị-Anị by the Anambra State Government.
