Catholic priest preaches love for one another as Ayogu Eze goes home amid tears.

The National Coordinator, Catholic Choirs in Nigeria, Very Rev. Dr. George Abah, has urged Nigerians, especially the rich to care for the poor among them, particularly now that millions of Nigerians are undergoing economic hardship.

Delivering a homily at a funeral service at Umuida, in Igboeze North Local Government Area of Enugu State, for the late Senator Ayogu Eze, on Friday, June 14, Rev. Abah, stated that failure to take care of the needy will attract God’s wrath at the end of ones life on earth.

He spoke about the inevitability of. death, stressing that life and death are inseparable.

He, however, explained that death was not an end as long as one was in Christ Jesus.

Making Biblical references from the books of Mathew, Hebrews as well as Ecclesiastic, the Catholic priest, maintained that life without Jesus Christ was a wasted one.

He said: “Everyone seated here today will go the way of all mortals. Death should no longer frighten us. We must all respond to the call of death as it is not a total humiliation. But everyone that died in Christ will have eternal life hereafter ”

Going forward, Rev. Abah said that ” it is irrational for anyone for anyone to think that he would protect life'” stressing that “anyone born is free to die any day.”

He decried Nigeria’s current economic situation, saying that it has become so bad because the people especially the rich have blatantly refused to care for one another.

The remains of late Senator Ayogu Eze, who represented Enugu North Senatorial District in the upper Legislative Chambers of the National Assembly from 2007 to 2015, were interred in his palatial compound at about 1.45 pm.

This was followed by traditional gunshots amid wailings by friends, relatives and political associates.

The service which was presided over by the Bishop of Nsukka Diocese, Igwebuike Onah, was attended by high-heeled businessmen, politicians and the academies including the Minister of Science and Technology, Uche Nnaji, the Labour Party presidential candidate in the 2023 general elections, Mr. Peter Obi, the Deputy Governor of Enugu State, Barr Ifeanyi Ossai, the immediate past governor of Enugu state Rt.
