THE youth wing of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide, the apex Igbo sociocultural organization, has called on President Bola Tinubu, to engage the services of intelligent and skillful youths to assist his administration in building a strong and viable economy.
In a statement signed by its National Publicity Secretary Mazi Chika Art Adiele, and made available to SummitNews, the organisation expressed dissatisfaction, with the dwindling state of the country’s economy, saying that it is impossible to achieve sustainable economic growth with outdated knowledge.
The statement reads in part: “Despite your commendable efforts to rescue a comatose economy, we humbly inform you that the result is abysmal with a competing reality of our time.
” We’re equally bewildered that our South-East Governors have continued to show their disdainful attitude against our youths as their meeting yesterday (July 3) in Enugu was held while none of us was invited. Even the absence of our Acting Leader Mazi Chukwuma Okpalaezeukwu, was conspicuous in such a meeting.
“We now wonder the kind of results they intend to achieve by this insensitive neglect of the apex Igbo Youths body.”
The statement described the attitude of the governors as “a big slap to our future and a sign of playing politics with our collective quest to bringing lasting peace and security to our region.”
According to Ohanaeze youths, “Nigerian youths are facing excruciating poverty despite our rich mineral resources when our nation is blessed with extraordinary intelligent and forward looking youths that can think outside the box.
” It is evident in our daily lives as most young people have taken to violent crimes as the last resort.
“We believe that every form of crime destroys the fabrics and gains recorded since the return of civil rule.
” We will have the liberty to compete with our contemporaries around the world when our leaders are intentional about their policy thrust.
“So, therefore, we beseech Mr. President, to understand that we are the fulcrum of the society, and can turn things around positively if given the opportunity to serve
our dear country.
” Let our hope be renewed once again. Mr. President.”
