THE National Universities Commission (NUC), has granted Lux Mundi University, Ibeku, Umuahia, Abia State, approval to commence some degree programmes in two new Faculties, namely Engineering and Computing.
The Acting Director, Academic Planning, Abubakar M. Girei stated that, “The Executive Secretary (Professor Abdullahi Yusufu Ribadu), has considered and approved the establishment of the Full-time mode of the following programmes to be run in the main campus of the university with effect from 2025/2026 academic session”
According to Girei, the programmes are, for Faculty of Engineering; 1. Bachelor of Engineering, Computer Engineering, 2. Bachelor of Engineering Electrical and Electronic Engineering, and 3. Bachelor of Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering.
For Faculty of Computing, 1. Bachelor of Science, Software Engineering, 2. Bachelor of Science, Computer Science, 3 Bachelor of Science, Cyber Security.
The Vice Chancellor of Lux Mundi University, Professor Paul Eidson, in a statement thanked the Executive Secrectary, NUC and all the officials that were in the university for resource verification visit for, granting this approval.
He promised that Lux Mundi University, Umuahia will continue to collaborate and partner with international organizations to give the students the very best.
Speaking on behalf of the Pro-Chancellor, Professor Austin Uwakwe, thanked the state Government for providing a conducive environment and support.
He opined that Lux Mundi University continues to set new standards of excellence, reflecting the unprecedented achievements it has made in research, innovation, and community impact within this short time of its existence.
When contacted, the Registrar of the university, Mrs. Blessing Ibebunjo, said that the university is proud of the erudite professors and highly qualified and committed lecturers, who personalize teaching cum coaching to ensure that, “our pride” – the students commit to serious learning and scholarship.
She said that a good number of prospective candidates for the six newly approved programmes have started changing to Lux Mundi since few days now that JAMB listed the new programmes on Lux Mundi University JAMB CAPS.
Mrs. Ibebunjo advised parents and candidates to quickly access their JAMB CAPS to change Institution to Lux Mundi University, Ibeku, Umuahia and make their choice of programme.
She added that JAMB did wonderfully well, by approving the new faculties of Engineering and Computing as to grant access to so many qualified candidates who before now could not secure admission due to limited spaces.
According to her, Lux Mundi University, Umuahia is poised to continue to raise the bar and increase access to very quality education.
”Lux Mundi University is a Full Boarding University, where students from about 31 states of the federation and beyond, are groomed to be self-reliant, leaders of thought, innovative thinkers, morally upright, socially responsible and globally competitive citizens,” she concluded.
