The faction of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, loyal to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has announced the expulsion of Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde, Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed, and Zamfara State Governor Dauda Lawal.
The faction also declared the dissolution of party executives in Oyo, Bauchi, Ekiti, Zamfara, Edo and Lagos states.
NATIONAL POST reports that the development followed a clash at the PDP national headquarters in Abuja on Tuesday over attempts by two factions to hold parallel meetings.
The National Working Committee, NWC, elected in Ibadan and backed by Wike, as well as the faction led by newly elected National Chairman Taminu Turaki, had scheduled their meetings for the same day.
National Secretary of the pro-Wike faction, Samuel Anyanwu, arrived at the Wadata Plaza with his group before a physical confrontation erupted, leading to the Wike faction being forced out of the building.
However, Makinde, Bala Mohammed, and PDP National Chairman, Turaki, later entered the NEC hall to conduct their meeting.
Addressing journalists after the incident, Turaki accused a serving minister of mobilising thugs with alleged police support to disrupt activities at the secretariat.
 He called for international intervention, appealing specifically to United States President Donald Trump and world democracies to protect Nigeria’s democratic institutions, insisting that party leaders were prepared to defend their mandate.
The crisis marks a deepening division within the PDP as both camps continue to assert authority over the party’s leadership and decision-making structures.
