GOV. FUBARA IS A ‘LIAR’ – RIVERS HOUSE OF ASSEMBLY – From Chukwudi Ejimofor/Port Harcourt

The River State House of Assembly has described the State Governor Siminalayi Fubara, as a liar, citing his alleged refusal of the lawmakers to hold meetings with him ever since the end of the emergency rule in the state.

Addressing journalists in Port Harcourt Thursday night, Speaker of the State House of Assembly Rt. Hon. Martin Amaewhule, said Governor Fubara lied when he said he was yet to meet with the lawmakers.

According to Speaker Amaewhule, “the FCT minister, Nyesom Wike following the directive of the president, summoned a meeting between them and the governor after the emergency rule,” adding that the lawmakers have met with the governor twice, since the end of the emergency rule.

“First in the house of the FCT minister and second in the house of Ferdinand Alabraba, the Speaker emphasised.

The Speaker who spoke on behalf of the lawmakers accused Governor Fubara of failing to honour the terms of the agreements reached at both meetings.

SummitNews recalls that Governor Fubara had during a recent outing in the state accused the lawmakers of refusing to meet with him, but rather preferring to attend meetings summoned by the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Mr. Nyesom Wike.

The lawmakers described the comments of the governor as “unnecessary, condemnable,” saying that it’s capable of setting the stage for another round of crisis in Rivers State.

They accused the governor of disparaging the person of the FCT minister, Nyesom Wike, through his comments.

The lawmakers also accused Gov Fubara of spending and awarding contracts to his cronies without seeking ratification from the House of Assembly.

They insisted that the out-gone Sole admistrator left N600bn behind; alleging that the governor is plotting to use Rivers funds to buy off Assembly members.

Insisting that the Assembly members are not for sale, they also expressed commitment to serving the interest of Rivers people and the peace process that was mid-wifed by the president.
